Lovely stay

Reviewed By Mary A

Stayed for a friends wedding. Lovely hotel very comfortable. Stayed on for two extra nights. Used the swimming pool but no drier for the swimming costumes. Had to carry wet gear in our cases back to Dublin where we were staying for two further nights. There was Another Wedding on the 2nd night of our stay. Unfortunately our room was on the first floor just above the outside “smokers” area - really noisy until about 1am. Breakfast was great. Staff very attentive. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again

very nice stay in this hotel. A great conference hotel What I liked was that there were lots of staff to deal with anything that came up. Lots of hotels have suffered post covid by not having enough staff but this hotel was an exception. Food was pretty good if not spectacular. Lovely setting on the golf course and nice walks around. A great sense of space in the hotel where the rooms are spacious. Overall a very nice experience.

A Dream Come True—Not Once, but Twice!

Cabra Castle was a late discovery of ours, but my, what a discovery. From the wonderful lady who checked us in, Margaret (more on that sweet lady in a moment), to our delightful room in the Cottages, to the delicious breakfast in the lovely castle dining room, to the gorgeous castle grounds and surrounding forest and farmland, we could not have been more charmed. Unfortunately, due to a snafu at our Dublin hotel booked for the next two weekend nights just before we were to fly home, we were completely out of luck in terms of a place to stay. All hotels and lodgings in Dublin and for miles around were completely full (first time, they said, in six years). Standing with my husband, both of us in a panic, in the middle of the lobby of the airport hotel that was turning its back on us, I called up my new friend, Margaret. Even though Cabra Castle was very full, she so kindly said she’d take care of us, and invited us back. More relieved than we could tell, we happily drove the hour-plus back to the Castle, embarrassed hat in hand. We were ready to sleep in the broom closet, anything. Imagine our surprise when Margaret gave us the “Wedding Special” price and we ended up in the nicest room we could have imagined, this time in the Castle Annex proper! Not only that, this misfortune-turned-stroke-of-luck turned even happier when, the following morning we awoke, not in frenetic Dublin but in the most peaceful spot on earth, and were able to do something we had not taken time to do the day before—go for a long, leisurely walk into the forest near the Castle. My husband is a birder, and he had a field day photographing birds and recording their calls. I got many nice pictures of bucolic forest and farmlands and their plethora of wildflowers. Dublin could not have held a candle to the lovely time we had that day. We felt so blessed. Thank you once again to dear Margaret, and to a Castle of Dreams that took two bedraggled and tired travelers back for the stay of a lifetime. God bless you, Margaret, for your uncommon courtesy and kindness to us. We will never forget you. Memo to Management: Promote that lady!
