Thought I'd hate it- ended up loving it!
Reviewed By TokyoJimmyMy wife persuaded me to book this hotel. We wanted to see the nearby Tayrona National Park. The agent we booked with could only provide this hotel locally. I didn’t like what I read before I stayed. No Wi-Fi in the rooms. No TV. Roofless bathrooms with no ceiling. No hot water. I like these things a lot. A relatively isolated location if you don’t have a vehicle as it is down a farm track and some way from the nearest town. My initial feelings backed up my initial scepticism. On the way to our room, I got wet from a sprinkler and the sink was covered in bird droppings when we checked out the room. I thought I would hate it. But within three hours I was incredibly relaxed, and my initial worries were gone. I ended up loving the place. The beach it is set on is beautiful and quiet but sadly not good to swim at due to the strong currents. Most of the staff speak very good English and are wonderful, all of them polite and keen to help you. They arranged a late check out for us with no hassle at all and arranged for our bags to be transported to Reception before we asked. The food whether at breakfast, lunch or dinner is delicious, with local ingredients and a lot of variety. They will provide a lunch to take with you if you are out for the day. You can go online in Reception or the bar, which has a good range of beverages and very good staff who are happy to chat. I was intrigued as to why it had an Asian theme, but the Colombian guests seemed to love it, there was even a photoshoot while we were there and the hotel is trying to replicate the ideals that similar hotels in India, Thailand or Indonesia try to produce. It very much is a USP for the local market. There is nature everywhere, from plants and trees, to insects, birds, iguanas, squirrels, lizards and butterflies. If you don’t mind them being in and around your room, you’ll love it. Our room was a thatched chalet, with a safe, hammock, and a bed with a mosquito net. There wasn’t a wardrobe, just some pegs and hangers and nowhere to sit other than the bed. There is a sitting area in front of the chalet, along with a hose to get rid of sand on your feet. There is only a couple of shelves to put things on in the room to put things on, which isn’t always convenient. The ceiling fan is OK to keep the worst of the heat out. You will need a torch to get around the property at night as there isn’t much lighting. The mosquito net had some holes in it. The leaves and twigs in the bathroom can be tedious and there are intermittent power outages. If you let these things get to you, you will hate the place, if you quickly accept them and roll with it, you will soon switch off and with the warmth of the staff, the location and nature you will realise these small things are soon small compared to the character of the place and what it does in terms of wellbeing, both for the environment and your well being as a guest.

A beautifully designed beach hotel of seven airy, terraced rooms, this is the retirement project of owners Diana and Sergio, a lawyer and architect from Bogota. My partner and and spent three days in this little paradise. It is at once luxurious and simple, you go to sleep with the sound of the ocean and awake to birdsong. The wild beach is stunning. The pool is long enough to do some laps, and crystal clear. The food is excellent. The staff is warm and attentive. I very much enjoyed talking with Diana and Sergio, fell in love with their chocolate lab, Dona, and with the entire place. When can I come back?

Playa Mareygua cuenta con excelentes habitaciones equipadas con baño privado y aire acondicionado, tenemos servicio de restaurante, y tours a los diferentes sitios de la zona. Nos encontramos ubicados al pie de la sierra nevada entre bosques de palmeras y el arrullo del Mar Caribe, a 46 km de la ciudad de Santa Marta y tan solo 15 minutos del majestuoso Parque Nacional Tayrona.

Reviewed By geusepThe room was spacious and clean. We ordered arepas with cheese, very tasty. The Hotel is very close to the beach but you can't see the sea from the rooms. Very nice place and from there you can walk about 40 min to the Buritaca River very lovely.

We are an accommodation located at Km 56 via Santa Marta Riohacha on the banks of the Don Diego river, we are known for being an attractive tourist site for our visitors, not for our facilities but for our natural riches that we have around us. We have staff trained in customer service natives of the region with great human talent and good service.

Reviewed By florenciavieraFuimos en familia con dos niños y la verdad es que nos encontramos con un lugar hermoso !, las cabañas preciosas , alejadas entre sí, tranquilo, cerca del parque Tayrona entrada Zaino. Comimos siempre en el hotel, todas las comidas muy muy ricas con opciones para todos los gustos. La playa muy linda pero con mucho oleaje al estar con chicos nos obligaba a estar muy pendientes de ellos. Muy recomendable !!!!

Reviewed By natik5Bien sûr cet hôtel n'est pas 5 étoile mais il a de qualités bien plus remarquables: l'authenticité et l'emplacement. Maison à partager avec trois autres hôtes. Miguel " ladministrateur" est formidablement authentique, serviable et de confiance. Il vous conseillera les activités à faire et avec qui... Il ne habite à l'hôtel. Mais il est disponible à tout moment. Le hôtel est à 1 minute de la mer et de la zone de restaurants. A côté vous aller trouver une place où le villageois jouent le fútbol et on peut y participer. Si on est matinal, on peut regarde le lever du soleil et "la Sierra Nevada " c'est presque un mirage. L'hôtel est très calme et sécurisé. Découvrir minimaliste.
