Not state of the art anymore
Reviewed By Stefan PJust an overnight stop for one night, mainly because of the nice location, but you don't feel yourself very welcome as there are parking and smoking warnings etc. almost everywhere. The price is very ambitious for the given comfort and service - e.g. 100 EUR per night and room but you have to pay your cappuccino at the booked breakfast and scrambled eggs for breakfast at just two days a week? Yes, we stayed there the wrong day... The entire hotel is still pretty much in the 80ies which doesn't fit the price per night of 2016.

Lots for kids but food is not great

The pool, sauna and kids games rooms mean it should be a 4 four star but the owners know that the poor buffet food and dated rooms infer 3 star. We were lucky it snowed and there is good sledging possibilities right outside. Skiing (and Bob track) in Altenberg is just 5 km away with skating in Geising too

Country Comfort, Great Family-Run
Reviewed By Robert RWe made a last-minute reservation at this lovely, simple, family run hotel in Oberbaerenburg. The owners, a funa nd friendly couple that have run the place for the last 12 years, welcomed us. The room we stayed in was simple, definitely not luxurious, but clean, comfortable and roomy. We also had a great view of the mountains and forest around Oberbaerenburg, a charming town outside of Altenberg (tip: avoid Altenberg itself and stay in Oberbaerenburg instead). Breakfast was good, although the soft boiled eggs were actually hard boiled eggs. But the rest of the breakfast was tasty. If you're looking for simple, country comfort, you won't go wrong here.

Beautiful surroundings, perfect for walking, biking, running or cycling in the summer season and skiing during winter. Wonderful local atmosphere and quality quisine based on regional ingredients, impeccable service on all levels!

Very average all-inclusive hotel
Reviewed By peteman358Large room, nice and kleen, very noisy at street side, staff is to busy to notice you and Wi-if is very slow. The breakfast is supprised good, had no lunch, but dinner is from the buffet, quality and taste is very avareage, nothing special. All inclusive arrangement starts at 11am until 9 pm.

Very friendly welcome
Reviewed By alwestwoodWarm friendly welcome, even with my two dogs. Modern clean rooms. Good breakfast. Surrounded by excellent dog walks. The only disappointment was the village amenities. Due to roadworks a few kilometers down the road, virtually cutting off the area, the village eating establishments had all but closed. We had to travel to the next village for our evening meal, and even then we had to beg. Be warned, this is a remote location. Plan everything in advance.

While really close to Altenberg, it's very secluded and sits in a beautiful spot which is especially beautiful when there's snow. - The restaurant was especially good. We had dinner and it was amazing. The breakfast buffet was also very rich - The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. - The view from the room was beautiful Cons: - The TV in the room was smaller than a computer screen and VERY old. - Wifi reception could be a bit better. - The toilets in the room were right next to the wall, which was VERY uncomfortable. - Our room was in a separate building than the main one, so going outside in the morning for breakfast, when it's icy and snowy, was not very comfortable.
