Get off the beaten path and experience Vieques the way locals do; from the back of a smooth-gaited Paso horse! Everyone will tell you, there is no better way to explore the wilder side of our island. Our guided two-hour ride takes you through the hills, open meadows, woods, river bottoms and beaches of the Esperanza area. You'll even get to try out the paso (a smoother version of the trot)! We offer rides at 8:00 am and 4:00 pm; to avoid mid-day heat. The cost is $80 per person (group ride) and $125 per person (private ride). Family and kid-friendly rides also available. Reservations are required and don't forget your camera! Please refer to our website for more information.
This was the family favorite event of our vacation to Vieques. Elizabeth was great with all ranges of experienced riders and the trails, beaches and views were fantastic!

My young (9yo) daughter and I took the river cave kayak tour with AJ. I can’t say enough about how great of a tour guide he is. AJ is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and cares very much about your enjoyment of the tour. The tour consisted of a trail hike, a suspension bridge crossing, a short kayak trip, a river trek (including floating/swimming in the deeper parts), more hiking, and a climb on ‘natural’ steps up against a waterfall. The kayaking was in very calm water through the dark cave. We were provided with head lamps to help illuminate that part of the tour. The hike was challenging with the changes in elevation, but well paced for those less experienced. My daughter kept up with no issue. I recommend good hiking sandals instead of shoes or boots, since the river trek is very wet. A dry bag for phones or cameras would also be beneficial— we were very fortunate that AJ offered to carry our water-sensitive items while we were crossing the river. We felt our safety was the #1 priority. Helmets and life jackets were provided and worn for the entire trip. Some portions of the hike were slippery with the prior day’s rain (and our wet shoes!) but AJ did a wonderful job pointing out the difficult spots and helping us get through safely. I highly recommend the tour, and I recommend Batey. We attempted some schedule juggling before our visit and the woman who answered my phone calls (can’t recall her name, sorry) was incredibly helpful.
