What a great day out. Travelled with a friend on the North Wales/Chester trip in September. From boarding the coach in Manchester to arriving back, we were fed history, myths, legends, jokes and music from our excellent guide Darren. He was so informative, even including history of Manchester and it’s music. The coach was clean and comfortable, the places we visited were stunning. There’s an old Welsh saying; “the best shortage is a shortage of words”. And we can understand why. Because when you travel through Snowdonia, the beautiful mountains leave you speechless. The Welsh castles’ battle-torn passageways are simply indescribable. And a lot of the destinations are as unpronounceable as they’re unbelievable. So, on this trip, we let you discover the elusive beauty of Wales. You enjoy the poetic landscapes and harbour towns that inspired Dylan Thomas, you venture through the inexpressibly beautiful valleys of two of Wales’ famous national parks, and you take in the history of Chester, an English town that sits by the border. Let the sights speak for themselves and join our tour of North Wales and Chester.

I had a fantastic tour of the city in early September with a Blue Badge guide called Andrew. He had a wonderful depth of knowledge and a delightful sense of humour. What lovely way to see this city which I have visited quite a few times but always on my own. Thank you Andrew for a really interesting morning!

Explore the back streets of the Northern Quarter, find film locations and street art and discover how ceramic art transformed the area into the city's coolest district. You can also cast a critical eye on things as you learn about issues facing the city from social justice to public spaces. The tour tracks the transformation of the Northern Quarter since the 1970s when it was in decline in the wake of our first American-style shopping mall, the Arndale Centre, opening. The area, the one with the highest density of protected buildings in the city, was cited by cultural icon Tony Wilson in the early 90s as being 'our Detroit' owing to a mass evacuation of businesses. Abandoned and ruined it was the public art that turned the area around from 1998 onwards. The tour discovers that original ceramic art trail and uses more modern street art in order to weave together the narrative. I donate 10% of profits to local causes. Sustainable, thoughtful and inclusive tourism since 2012.
