Top 10 Hammams & Turkish Baths in Cairo, Cairo Governorate

July 8, 2021 Fernanda Pittenger

Cairo’s an ancient city that also happens to be a modern metropolis—it’s one of the biggest cities in the Middle East and has the traffic and noise issues to prove it. But as long as you’re not looking for solitude, Cairo—the City of the Thousand Minarets—is a splendid place to explore Egyptian history and culture. I am visiting Cairo for a few months and chose Bliss Spa based on online reviews across several platforms. From the moment I entered I was made to feel welcome and was given a full tour by the owner of the highly clean facility and introduced to all the available services. I had a facial with Linda a supremely qualified and skilled esthetician. She provides services based on the customer’s needs and the results are noticeable immediately. My skin glowed for hours after the appointment. Linda also provided me with a list of preferred products to use along with a list of nutritional dos and dont’s to get my skin to its optimum condition. Marianne did a great job with a shellac manicure and pedicure and eyebrow threading. I rarely let anyone near my eyebrows but she cleaned them perfectly without overshaping and my skin did not break out after as it usually does after threading. Ms Mervat gave me a haircut that was exactly what I asked for and a blow dry that pulled the look together. I am trying to grow out my hair and she made sure to only take off enough to shape it up. To say that I was highly satisfied with all the services at this spa is a vast understatement. From the owner to all the providers at this establishment you will feel a warmth and sincerity and skill level that far surpasses expectations. I will be a customer for life whenever passing through Cairo and encourage anyone looking for a spa that will provide quality services at a very reasonable cost to look no further.

We’re two expats living in Cairo and we tried this place on a whim and loved it. We elected for the tradition Thai massage and it delivered. The two Thai staff were amazing, professional and this was a proper Thai massage. The facilities are clean and high standard. We have decided to make this a monthly treat for both of us. We can’t wait to come back. We’re extremely glad the staff are professionals and from Thailand. Big thanks to Nina & Tina.

Mandara Spa

The magnificent Mandara Spa has become a destination in itself and continues to add new dimensions of luxury to the JW Marriott Hotel With a focus on pampering and restoration, the spa is a peaceful oasis resting in the heart of the picturesque resort.

Reviewed By DamiB - La Condamine, Monaco

This was our third experience at the Mandara Spa for a couple's massage. After the first one, we were so thrilled that we bought a 10-massage package. Yesterday, we went in for our Valentine's treat and were greated by the usual pipping hot Ginger tea and a red rose for me. We filled our consultations cards and the receptionist came back to inquire the exact details of my husband's recent surgery and brought his massage therapist Nang (who also happens to be a certified physiotherapist) to discuss with him how she'll adjust the massage to avoid the surgery area. My therapist Toom was equally great. I love all the attention to detail in this spa compared to many others. In the private changing room we get slippers, fluffly bathrobes, a safe and two wardrobes for each one's belongings, all bathroom amenities, and proper disposable spa underwear (not the tiny little paper thing that cannot cover anything at all). The treatment starts with a nice warm foot bath with black soap. When you lie with your head down, you get the view of a beautiful oriental flower arrangement. The relaxing music is oriental and plays softly. The therapist's hands are always warm (I'm horrified by those who start a massage or other body treatment with their hands nearly frozen). The massage was just what I requested, with the right pressure and right focus on the areas I cared about. The head massage in the end is amazing. The warm towel that wipes out any excess oil in the end is not only great to prevent stains on your clothes and the risk of slipping while walking, but is also a real bliss. We left happy and relaxed, regretting only that we didn't book a 2-hour massage. We'll be back soon.
