You most probably wouldn't expect this quality of a restaurant in this location.. It's at the ground floor of a Mercure Hotel in a rather industrial area near the highway - but it's a very good restaurant, perfect service, good seasonal and tasty food, good wine choice. Obviously, it's used mostly by hotel guests, but we went here on purpose not staying in the hotel and it definitely was worth the experience!

Landgasthof Geser

Preislich in Ordnung.

Good looking building in a narrow village main street. Nearby parking (free after 18:00 hrs.)Friendly, staff. They make little mistakes but solve problems in a relaxed way. The dirndl outfits of the waitresses are good fun if you are a foreigner. The fresh bread and lard (eat while still cold) are a delight. The chef has re-interpreted classic regional dishes in a modern way, cutting back on fat, using fresh ingredients and concentrating on achieving a pleasant taste. Presentation is modest. Portions are copious. I would recommend that the chef cuts back on salt. Adding salt is easy and subtracting salt is impossible.Price level is reasonable, so you get good value for money, as attested by the Michelin Bibendum this restaurant fully deserves.

Friends and I on Viking Cruise ventured into this place. Had a great time at this two story restaurant that is looks just like what you’d picture a German restaurant or beer hall should be. We had great service and great food. Wiener schnitzel was two huge patties and another dish was a buttery, cheesy spaetzle that was delicious. Very good beer. Highly suggest and easy 15 minute walk from our dock.

This is a simple small, family style hotel and Resturant. I have stayed here in the past but today just have dinner. The food was very good and the service was excellent. We were served quickly and efficiently. The Resturant bar area is rustic but comfortable. I would stay and stop here for dinner again. We all ordered the special which was pork, potato, and salad. This with a low alcohol beer. The server checked on us often and was attentive to our needs through the meal. The price appeared to be more reasonable than in the city centre.

Ratskeller

After seeing the Roman ruins and Old Stone Bridge, plus a lot more, we were not finished with the day!We set out to learn the secrets of making our own weisswurst at a Regensburg institution. Meeting our guide at the Viking Longship Vili, we set off on foot, crossing the Eiserne Bridge to the Ratskeller Restaurant. Upon arrival, an expert from the family-run Deutsch Butcher Shop showed us how to weigh and cut our ingredients and how to fill the natural casings. These sausages have a long tradition in German culture. Made without preservatives, they are typically prepared in the early morning and, as the saying goes, “not allowed to hear the church bells at noon.” The specialty is therefore often called the “weisswurst breakfast.” Once our weisswurst was assembled, a cook boiled it to perfection and we enjoyed it with a wheat beer, pretzel and Händelmaier mustard. It was fitting that we learned about them in Regensburg, as the city is home to the indispensable Händelmaier mustard.

We stopped in the restaurant for our annual trip to Austria. It is recommended as a Bib Gourmand, which normally means very good food at low prices. The food indeed was not bad, but definitely not sophisticated whatsoever. Nonetheless it was of good quality. Service was very friendly, and very helpful in providing anything being asked for. All were wearing typical dirdnl dresses. The restaurant itself was the typical Bavarian place, with benches on the walls and wooden chairs. Robust and functional. In conclusion: would we stop here again when travelling down? Perhaps... but probably we will venture somewhere else.
