Ideally located just off the autobahn (about a mile so no noise). Clean comfortable rooms. Good food with great service. English spoken. Good countryside walk to stretch your legs after a long journey.

If you like to try out different Hessian dishes Zeitlos is a good place to go. They offer very small tappa styled sefvings of Hessian Classics at fairly low prices so one can try a number of things in order to find out which items one likes. We had four tappas as apperizers and that was about the right quantity. The Handkaese Classic, the Green Sauce with Egg, the mini Flammkuchen (Elsassian style thin pizza) and the grilled shrimps were all good. For mains I had the Tafelspitz with horseraddish sauce which was very good. My better half went for the beef fillet from Argentina. While the quaklty of the meat was good the steak was grilled "to death". It had been ordered medium rare and ended up basically "well done". When we pointed that out to the waitress she just shrugged her shoulders. Overall the young waitress was clearky out of her depth; forgetting orders, getting orders wrong and not responding quickly to additiona requests for water or ketchup. So the food was okay (just don't order steak) but service was pretty poor. The place was pretty full on a Thursday night so you may want to book a table in order to ensure you get in.

I really recommend this small but really beautiful place in the historical Aldstad of Idstein. Everything has the taste of traditional home kitchen, from the furniture to the dishes. Different options from German kitchen where to chose from and a nice blackboard with the dishes of the day, all from the area and all fresh made. The spargelcreme with Salmon that I had was more than delicious, so was the pork meat with strawberry or ribes sauce. The service was helpful and friendly and they tried to explain us the information of the main dishes also in English.Allow yourself some time cause the dishes are made at the moment and so they can take a while.

This is a very nice restaurant, with a comfortable small Biergarten in the courtyard. It specializes in food made with potatoes, but has a good variety of meat entrees along with vegetarian. The food was very tasty, service was quite prompt, portions are very generous, and the staff is very friendly. After a satisfying meal, I'd highly recommend you try the "Kartoffelpuffer mit Apfelmus" for dessert. It consists of three thin fried potato pancakes with a moderately sweet applesauce on top, not heavy but rather just right to complete the meal.

The beer selection isn't huge, but both the Idsteiner Hell and Dunkel are tasty. Great interior, with the brewery equipment on view. Seating available at the bar or at tables. Staff are welcoming. Wine is also served. Food is served. Attractive outdoor seating area, too. Convenient location, near the Hexenturm.
