Franklin River Nature Trail

What a treasure. You could push a stroller or wheelchair with ease. Beautiful wide track, not one stair. Length was noted as between 25 - 45 minutes, it depends on how long you spend staring in wonder at the nature. Really loved this area. Beautiful place for a picnic, tables available. I'd love this walk at my back door it would encourage me to do it daily.

Cradle Mountain

Reviewed By DeSignBoard_P - Melbourne, Australia

One of the most beautiful national parks in Tasmania, the Cradle Mountain National Park offers breath-taking views of the surrounding areas from numerous hiking trails spread throughout the national park. These hiking trails range from a couple of hours to a couple of days, depending on how adventurous you want to be. The most popular is the hike from Dove Lake to Marion's Lookout and back, which takes about 5 to 6 hours and includes a few difficult places to navigate. The park incurs entrance fees, either per person or per vehicle if you purchase a 24 hour or a 60 day parks pass. The 60 day parks pass would be the most economical if you are planning on visiting multiple national parks in Tasmania.

20-25min from Hobart. Off the beaten track and a bit tricky to find. Head to Collinsvale, look for signs “Myrtle Forest Picnic Ground” and Springvale road. You will come to a car park, 15 min walk to picnic ground then 15 min walk to falls. Small and pretty waterfall. If you are lucky you may see a Paddy melon ( small short tail wallaby) we did .

Blue Tier Forest Reserve

Reviewed By mher4

We visited the reserve twice in search of the "Blue Tier Giant" walk (which can be accessed from near the Weldborough lookout) and found it on our second attempt. The first visit we accidentally walked down some mountain bike trails near Lottah, which were still beautiful but not what we had visited for. There is no reception up there so we could not double check our map! (Also the signposting is somewhat lacking.) Eventually on our second visit through the area with the map preloaded we were able to find the Blue Tier Giant walk. It is quite secluded on a gravel road, but the road was an easy trip and the walk itself not difficult. The trees were beautiful and it was very tranquil - definitely worth the trouble of finding it! At the Blue Tier Giant itself there was even a box with a visitor's book in it which was a great surprise.

Short and easy walk (a few steps down into the sinkhole) through beautiful man ferns and mossy forest. The brilliant green of the waterhole though the arch is an amazing sight. The sinkhole is not fenced, so caution with children is recommended.
