We spent about an hour and a half here, and we almost had enough samples to call it lunch. From pasta to caramels to whiskey to tzatziki (best tzatziki ever), it seemed like over half the places were handing out their nibbles for everyone to try. We also enjoyed shopping for some reasonably priced jewelry and some fresh produce. The place was bustling, but everyone is so nice that it's pretty easy to maneuver with a little patience.

St. Lawrence Market

All roads to good food lead to St. Lawrence Market, a city landmark more than two centuries old. Two hundred vendors sell everything from local mustard to fresh pasta, lobster to artisanal bread.

But I’ve been to many places all over the city, and seriously, this is one of the reasons I moved here. Local, friendly, fresh, TASTY, always something different to try, great antiques section, and well, amazing fresh food to prepare yourself, or “no time for that?” the already prepared food is scrumptious too! And, well, if your into “people watching”... this is definitely your place. Surrounding area is always bustling with charm, energy and great food. So really, why not check it out?

We took the mini aquabus over to the island, although many of the hop-on.hop-off buses pick up and drop off there, It's a great place for a stroll, many food stalls also plenty of artisan goods and handmade jewelery/ceramics etc. Lots of lovely food to choose from for lunch.

The market, along the Lachine Canal, offers cheese, local produce, baked goods and meat from different vendors. Buy food there and head to the canal for a picnic.

Tried both of these markets and Atwater had a bit more about it than Jean-Talon, great foodstalls, organic shops and many little places to buy things to eat or take back.

I have posted earlier about what a treasure this place is. As of June 1 all vendors have been given the go ahead to come back. And the outdoor market is active yet again. I've been going every Saturday after the partial reopening. Really looking forward to when they're all back again.
