Quite simple: go on a Monday or Tuesday (perhaps a Wednesday too) as you can get three dishes for Euro 29. On a Monday evening the restaurant wasn’t packed, a few parties and couples there, but getting a table was fine without having to make a booking. The starter of tuna and cucumber mouse was a good refreshing start to the meal (though piercing the samphire stalks into the tuna chunks wasn’t necessary and hardly the most refined way of serving the dish), a main of steak and sweet breads which was very tasty, and a pudding of crème brûlée which could have done with being a little bit hotter and stickier with the sugar on the top. Don’t worry about the gimmick names for each dish, look past that and order some excellent food. Perhaps not the most refined of presentations, and a bit of tweaking here and there with some of the ingredients would elevate this place to being a super excellent restaurant (and the price would go up!), but the service was extremely friendly and knowledgeable (including some very good wine recommendations), and, for the price, this place is a real gem for an early week dinner.Thank you very much for your kind words!

We chose this restaurant because it was close to our hotel. Having read rather old reviews, we thought the €75 per person menu, matching wines to each dish would suit us. It is not our intention to insult the chef but only one dish was well prepared, The red wine served with it was a mismatch. We left thinking that there was neither flair in the cooking nor intuition when choosing wines to accompany the food. The lovely waitress repeated over and over her "set script" to the diners, who appeared to be tourists as we were. We thought it over priced and very pretentious to the point of discomfort.

This restaurant really lives up to its amazing reviews! The building itself is a period building with beautiful finishes. There is a stunning staircase going upstairs with a beautiful ceiling. We started with gin cocktails. The gin menu is extensive - They even divide it by sorts of gin - citrusy, fruity, classic - etc. I think that they have near on 40 different gin based cocktails. I had a monkey 47 - it was made to perfection. We did not have a starter as we decided to have one of the cowboy 1kg steaks with some side dishes. We have the Austrian Cowboy steak which was cooked perfectly to our taste. If you choose a cowboy steak you are presented with a range of knives to choose from - it’s so impressive. Our meal was outstanding - the meat was amazing and we had great sides including mixed veg and mushrooms. They served fries with the meal but we were not keen on filling ourselves with potato. We were too full for dessert so had some port.Service was great.Food was outstanding.Drinks menu is extensive and reasonable - we also had a bottle of wine and were surprised by how reasonable it was. They have water from their own spring so once you’ve purchased your first bottle it is refilled at a reasonable cost. The restaurant is about 15 mins walk from Leiden station.

We had dinner at Floris V last week and selected the 3 course menu. The entree was tuna, prepared in 3 different ways. Superb. The main course was deer. Superb again. Last but not least: the desert: a.o. a chocolate cake filled with warm succulent dark chocolate. Superb again!

We went here for dinner with my parents. The food was really excellent, we had the seasonal 3 course dinner, with crab rolls, calf and a nice dessert. We sat in the serre and had a nice view towards the canal. Service was very friendly. I can really recommend this restaurant for a fine dinner. It is not cheap (almost 40 € for 3 courses), but worth it.

Celebrating my birthday with good friends. Weather was at it's best so we had a glass of bubbly outside in the garden. We had a 4-course set menu, and they substituted one starter without hesitation. Portions were surprisingly large for such a place. The gravlax was a whole piece of fish, a centimeters thick, the main beef steak had several pieces, but dishes were well paced so you have time to digest. A special dessert was a funny surprise, sitting on top of dry ice in water with the nice " live clouds/mist effect" on the table. A very enjoyable evening with professional service and very reasonable prices. One of the better places in the Leiden area.

The restaurant was pretty empty on a Sunday evening, what we didn't mind a lot. The waitress was friendly and the ambient was rather fine. The prices on the meals were high, but I guess the ingredients and high quality is worth it. I can highly recommend the Tuna Steak, it comes with pickled vegetables and tomato sauce.
