Beautiful trails and scenery, perfect for all levels to learn and improve. Really love the different terrain and the fact that you feel like you are a million miles away from everyone even though the trails are only a few kilometres from town. Perfect day trip from 100 Mile. The lodge is clean, inviting and a great place for a quick apres ski or to warm up. Friendly and helpful staff and volunteers. I plan to spend a lot of time up there!

Elk Valley Nordic Centre

This non-profit society manages over 20kms of nordic trails groomed for classic and skate winter skiing. There are two areas managed by the club. One area is in town at the Fernie Golf Course featuring 12kms of trails on fairly mellow terrain with wide open spaces. There are also more than 10kms of trails at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre beside Mt Fernie Provincial Park. To reach the Elk Valley Nordic Centre, go west from Fernie on Highway 3. At 3 km from the bridge, turn right at the Island Lake Lodge sign. Follow the road for 0.9 km to the Mt. Fernie Provincial Park sign. Turn left into the overflow parking lot at 0.2 km. The hilly terrain and isolated nature of the trails makes this a very exciting place to ski. The trails link up with the multi-use trails at Fernie Alpine Resort. Trail maps are posted at the kiosks located at the entrances to the trails. Please NO DOGS ON THE TRAILS at any time. The Elk Valley Nordic Centre Warming Hut is located at (49.485633 N, 115.090980 W).

Had an amazing day at SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon, BC recently. It is a wonderful ski hill with a great village and a really good vibe. The snow this year is abundant (and it snowed all day when we were there). Enjoyed delicious pulled chicken poutine for lunch at The Den and skied over 7,000 verticals metres for the day over the varied terrain. Steeps, glades, cruising, etc. The mountain has something for everyone! A beer at Long John’s capped the day off perfectly!
