Nice, but needs better service

Reviewed By furketta

Nice guest house, in a convenient location, relatively new room, quiet area. We had breakfast included but the whole experience was a bit disappointing. we were given the option to have it in the room or on the terrace, but because of Covid, we had to arrange it the night before (which is fine). We set the first slot available (8:45), as the terrace is not huge and can’t welcome all guests at once. We planned to leave the guesthouse at 9:15 max, as we were continuing our trip and had a ferry to catch. We showed up at 8:45 sharp, the table wasn’t ready (there wasn’t really much), there was another table with other guests, using the only table in the shades; we waited until 9:10 to finally get our tray with cappuccino and croissant, a small bread, some jam and Nutella, 2 slices of melon and two yogurts....needless to say, we had to chug what we could and run away...I would have appreciate some extra sugar for my cappuccino, or another coffee, but the service was so slow that we just had to leave. I understand it’s a relaxed environment, but we had made very clear that we were on a schedule and expected them to be punctual (also because there was literally just one other table and we were left 25 minutes, out of the 30 ones allotted, totally abandoned!)

Rather tired resort in SW Sicily

Reviewed By rgroome

I would preface my review by saying that we visited this resort at the end of the summer (late Sept/early Oct), and it was in the middle of the COVID 19 outbreak. So many of the surrounding restaurants, bars and shops were either closed or operating strange hours. We had two apartments with excellent sea views from the balconies. Large and clean, they were a bit tired and had some broken fittings, plus some of the stair lighting didn’t work. Surprisingly, there were no cloths, tea towels, washing up liquid and hardly any toilet paper, which we had to ask for three times. There was also no electric kettle supplied in either apartment, nor available on site, which would have been an improvement, but otherwise the apartments were quite adequate, with good WiFi. On site there is a children’s pool and playground (looking a bit tired), and a private beach with parasols/sunloungers. The on-site restaurant tried hard with a very friendly waitress, but the food was not brilliant and the choice limited. Going elsewhere was difficult because of COVID closures, but we eventually found Baffos in Selinunte (used to be the Lido d’Azzurra), and a great pizzeria/restaurant Cibus in TreFontana. The resort charges 200 Euro per apartment per week for utilities, cleaning and supposedly discounts on local amenities, but we were not offered any of those. It’s quiet, restful and the weather was good, so if you want to be that end of the island this is an option.

Baglio La Porta by Geocharme

Country charming boutique hotel, between the light blue of the sea and the wonderful green of the nature .

Heaven above an Azure Blue sea

Reviewed By sanderva

We booked a Luxury West Sicily trip with stays in 3 country hotels and one B&B in Palermo. Our first stay after a winding road trip from was Baglio La Porta, almost and the end of the road past San Vito lo Capo. After a friendly and efficient welcome, we dove into their truly heavenly pool. No description will suffice, just look at the many pictures available on the Internet. But I must say the pool area had the best comfortable couches ever, No problem falling asleep, in the fall - sun :). The Deluxe Twin room is modern, excellent bed, but somewhat small for those used to sleep big. Quiet and secluded. One can opt for a jacuzzi in the garden. Best of the trip for us were the lounge areas and the restaurant. Ample, very friendly staff, excellent cuisine, a new menu every day, and super wines. Breakfast was plentiful, extras like custom-made juices are added to your bill. The Baglio is a short 10 min drive from the North entrance of the Zingaro National Park. A must for every visitor. No entry without good shoes. Interesting vegetation with the local variety of palm tree, and lots of Euphorbia. Secluded little beaches down to the shore, with a fabulously blue sea. In San Vito Lo Capo, the Baglio has a sister hotel on the beach, handy for valet parking and a place on the sand with an umbrella. Lots of little outside in town restaurants for a lunch. With the Zingaro Park and San Vito, the Baglio merits at least a three nights stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. Our room was spacious with stunning flooring and ceiling decor and a clean modern bathroom. I loved having the balconies. The breakfast was good with wonderful coffee made to order. Really lovely family running the hotel. I truly recommend if staying in Trapani. A fantastic location - minutes to the water, minutes to a lovely pedestrian street with lots of great restaurants and shops. Part of our group stayed at the sister hotel Belveliero which I heard was great too and close to the owners wonderful restaurant - The Wine House.

We also could not use the oven because when tourned it electricity threw out for the whole apartment. If we wanted to ure the microwave we need to put it on the floor because there was no space elsewhere. The apartment was also ful of flies. The aparment has only a nice look, excellent location and that is all.

Le Saline Residence - My husband and I spent 21 days here and we loved it!!

Reviewed By mhpmarcelle

We had a wonderful stay at the Residence Le Saline. We stayed 21 days. Upon arrival, we were immediately upgraded to a large 2 bedroom ocean view apartment because we were not visiting Marsala during peak tourist season (our trip was from March 21 - April 12). Our breakfast was delicious and brought to our door every morning by the charming Nellie always greeting us with a smile and warm greetings. The Residence is in a very nice neighborhood within walking distance to a grocery store, pharmacy and bakery and the old city center and to the ocean. The facilities were very clean and safe with the added plus of an enclosed courtyard to park our rental car. We frequented da Pino Trattoria many times and obviously it became our favorite restaurant in Marsala as frequented by the local residents. The vineyards and the archeological ruins at such a close proximity was an added plus!!

Fantastic apartment, close to everything

Reviewed By DarkGlass

We very much enjoyed our stay at Mareluna. We stayed at the Mansarda apartment which is amazing. It has two terraces with views of the town, sea and the mountain. It has a nice living room and a small kitchen corner. The bathroom was a bit tight but was very clean, as was the rest of the apartment. If you are driving into town it may be a bit challenging to navigate the small one way streets while looking for parking especially late in the evening (after 8pm) on Friday or Saturday - traffic is crazy and there are 0 parking spots around. The ZTL starts right down the street and on the weekend, the city actually extends it further, making it VERY difficult to reach the apartment after 9pm. Alberto, the host, wasn't able to give me much info on the ZTL, which would have been fine if we had been given more information and clear directions on what to do if we arrived late on a weekend. Unfortunately, the directions we got were vague and we ended up circling around town several times on a busy Saturday evening. Here's the info you will need: Alberto has a travel agency office (That Sicily) which is located right across the street from the entrance. In front of the office there is a parking spot marked with a Parking sign in a bucket. When you arrive you can just move the bucket and park there for 15 min to unload your luggage. You can then proceed to look for parking spots on the street. The earlier you arrive in town, the better chances you have for finding a spot. Other than the little hiccup with parking, everything else was great.
