Welcome to The Soul Antwerp, not your ordinary place! Our Soul Studios are designed to accommodate you the same as you were at home! That is why you can rent them both for a short or long term stay. You will have a great time in our Soul Studio's that are 35 - 40 square meter, have a modern eclectic style and give you all the comfort and privacy you need. All Studio's have a large living room, an open kitchen, a sleeping area and a luxury bathroom with a walk-in shower. The Studio's are each equipped with a TV, with DVD and free Wi-Fi. Or choose one of our Soul Apartments, which are 70m2, have a private bedroom and sleep up to 3 persons. The apartments are equipped with a large bathroom with bath, fully equipped kitchen and a small balcony. Situated in the heart of Antwerp at the Marnixplaats, all rooms view the square, on which there are lots of small pubs, cosy terraces, galleries and restaurants. Their lively and artistic ambiance reflects the good atmosphere of the area 't Zuid. At a ten minutes walk you can find the Groenplaats, the Grote markt and the old city centre. Also the Museum of Schone Kunsten is just around the corner, and the motorway is only 5 minutes away. There are cafe's and terraces establishments to be found at the Marnixplaats where you can enjoy a nice breakfast. Funky and charming
Reviewed By davidandmelWe stayed for 3 nights for our Antwerp city break. The studio was funky and charming - very retro chic - we loved the sheep mural on the wall and the comfy cord sofa (very 70's!) The bed was comfy and it was blissfully quiet. The bathroom was a little small and there was nowhere to really put anything in there, but the shower was very powerful (with a rain head option) and there was plentiful hot water. You actually check in at the cafe which is next door on the square, and there is no room service as such - someone came in one day and left us some fresh towels so this isn't for you if you want the full hotel experience. There is a little kitchenette but we just ate out - there are loads of great eating and drinking options round about. The staff in the cafe were lovely and helpful and we had breakfast there a couple of times We enjoyed this part of the city - it felt more local but it was still a short walk to the old town

Reviewed By Janja1983This is a very modern a nice looking apartment. I especially liked the bed and the bathroom. Big kitchen if you need it. The building is nice and has lots of interesting colors. Location is good. I think good value for money. I would recommend it and probably book it again.

Decent place not perfect but could be
Reviewed By SoulchargerFirst of all this is not a hotel but studio apartments so don't expect any sort of services although breakfast could be arranged in advance. In terms of location it's a 10 minute walk to the town square, 15 minute walk from Mechelen's main train station, the station at Nekkerspoel is closer and is about 6 - 8 minutes away. Parking is at a premium in the area, either stay at the residence's own car park of park your car outside the ring, there are some free parking places to be found. Built in the 1980s, I do believe it was once a retirement home converted into flatlets for short term rent. I stayed in 2 rooms, both clean, good furniture, plenty of utensils for preparing of food, working fridge and decent bathrooms. Good WiFi (free) and a TV, only a basic TV service, no British TV channels although Belgian & Dutch TV stations do feature British programs, there are more than 20 German speaking TV stations though. I found quiet enough in the evening and my room was next to lift and didn't get disturbed by that. OK so far so good, here are things that probably need to be improved. Because residents will almost certainly prepare food and drink that will generate a lot of rubbish/waste, there didn't seem to be much of a waste management system and as a result it begins to pile up. Residents do drop all sorts of stuff all over the place and the grounds, parking and entrance could do with being cleaned regularly. There were some dogs dropping just as you go into the bike shed that stayed there the whole week I was there and the bike shed contained lots of rubbish that had been left there. Perhaps the radiators need to be bleed (ontlucht) as they didn't give out much heat, warm at the top, cold at the bottom. The staff were friendly and helpful. or me 3 out of 5, if the place had been tidier it would receive a 4+.

Despite being within a popular area, the building's on a quiet street with no bars, and the room we had (at the back of the building) was very quiet even when we had the window open. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, check-in and check-out seamless, and I would very much recommend. It was a bit of a walk to some of the attractions in the south of the city, but Antwerp's easy to get around and a lovely place for a wander!

We arrived late and could phone the owner on his mobile, who came especially to us to deliver the key, let us in, and help us get settled. You are really in the center of the city, close to everything. We enjoyed our spatious rooms and all the amenities. Thanks and next time in Antwerp we will for sure be back here in Van Hecke aparthotel! We give this two thumbs up !

Reviewed By tasosg111May be the worst hotel room i have ever stayed in!!! It is an old building which most probably has been somehow renovated. The only good part of the room was the refrigerator. If you want to save 55 euros, it is better to sleep on a bench in the street rather than book this hotel. Bed is too hard. Faucet is not working properly. In case that you will forget your key in your room there is a sign saying that you will be charged 50 euros!!! because you will make them to come and open the door!!! Unbelievable!!! Actually, there are not enough works to describe this awful experience!

Overnachting midden in de stad!
Reviewed By Janneke225Het appartement ligt echt midden in het centrum! Het contact met de verhuurder verloopt ondanks dat je elkaar niet fysiek spreekt erg goed! De trappen zijn wel een flinke klim en niet erg breed. Het appartement was schoon en de benodigde dingen zijn aanwezig. Het deurtje van het badkamerkastje hing wel een beetje los en de badkamer stonk een beetje (maar dit komt voornamelijk door de riolering van Antwerpen gok ik). Zelf heb ik tijdens mijn verblijf heerlijk ontbeten bij het groene hart (groenplaats, praktisch om de hoek) voor maar €14 heb je een heel uitgebreid ontbijt, en voor €21 nog veel uitgebreider! Ik moest de toeristenbelasting overmaken naar Estland, dit vond ik wel een beetje vreemd. Snachts ben ik wel meerdere keren wakker geworden van het geschreeuw en andere geluiden want het is vrij gehorig maar dat houd je toch midden in het centrum! Kortom enorm naar mijn zin gehad en raad het een ander zeker aan!

Reviewed By EnneaLast minute choice turned out to be a good one for a few days of nice Antwerp. We had not been there for a while. Transformation is apparent. New and hip as well as the kind of gentrification of the nouveau riche kind, friends tell us. Still we enjoyed the rough side of the city as well as the art and fashion things. Talking about fashion, the kind host is into that. We stayed in room 24 which was good for two adults an a thirteen year old. He had his own bed in the kitchen, which sounds somewhat awkward but wasn't at all. The age of the house does bring with it that one is party to what ia happening elsewhere. Early moring mindfullness with music ended when we told the kind lady that we wanted to sleep another two hours. An activity of a very other kind was interpreted as 'a party' by our son, which perhaps is an appropriate term for what we thought was going on. That ended rather rapidly and it was in the early evening while we were watching The Good Place. They have Netflix.
