A lovely lunch on the terrace looking over the valley towards the mountains, and a lunch with some spectacular pasta to match the scenery. I had gnudi with truffle shavings, and all our meals were perfect. Decent prices, not cheap, but perfectly acceptable for a long lazy lunch before a walk up San Miniato's famous tower!

we get there by accident. looking for lunch in that area. first of the all - take care by getting here by car. we followed google maps and we had to pass very difficult "off roads". we managed but longer way by general roads should be taken. when we got there we meet unbelievably hospitality. the lady who served us is extremely nice and helpful. my wife cannot eat gluten. in that restaurant we got full support and gluten free dishes including right snacks and pasta. should i also say something about wine? of course not. it is obvious. we got a great bottle of white wine to our dish. we stay in the area for a few days. but we will for sure come back to that place. difficult to find but worth the effort. congratulations for Polish guests :)

We reserved a table at the Piazza del Popolo Restaurant in conjunction with the San Miniato White Truffle Fair and were totally delighted. The place is small, extremely friendly, no English problems, use only natural ingredients. Their home made pasta with shaved truffles and only butter was worth the entire visit.The fair was lots of fun. We connected in less than an hour from Florence - using the regional train and local bus. The bus/train connections could be better coordinated and the Saturday schedule is much better than Sunday. We found it convenient to book a taxi back to the train station. Very helpful information office in the center of town.In addition to truffle sales, there were a great group producers of local cheeses and meats, baked goods and more. A delightful town to walk around in. If you are in the region during one of three November weekends, it is a terrific all around event.We loved it - it was easy to get to and get around.

If you want pasta or pizza don't go there. A set menu of 4 courses all meaty( not dessert) . Fab. Sitting on balcony watching g the world go by as eating the most delicious antipasto of local meat selection, followed by steak cooked perfectly ( blue to pink) . What a way to end our wedding trip to San Miniato.

We new we had found a gem as there was a table full of locals! We had appetizers of a meat and cheese platter and spinach flan with cheese and truffles. We also had truffle pasta and a ravioli with leeks. Please see the pictures. They do the food justice. We also had a charming young waiter- the son of the owner whose English was flawless. He made excellent recommendations including the House red wine we enjoyed. We usually donât eat much bread but the cheese sauce on the flan and ravioli could not be left behind. Itâs a small place and can get very warm but regardless we plan to stop again especially when on our way back from the Pisa airport.

Once we had managed to park in San Miniato - no mean feat - Pepenero was easy to find and was surprisingly busy for a Monday lunchtime in November, with stylish Italian business people enjoying the very creative menu (but probably not the wine list, as we seemed to be the only ones with a bottle of wine on the table!). Creative is definitely the key word here and a couple of the dishes didn't quite work, which is why I have to give it a "very good" rather than "excellent" rating. A very sleek interior, wonderful views of the countryside, sophisticated ambience and service and definitely "fine dining" - quite surprising to find that in San Miniato. This is a destination restaurant, serious and interesting, very well worth visiting.

I was told to go for Ragu for the Tagliatelle I had just learned to hand roll and cut.It was delicious.. there are 2 sides.. the meat shop and the small restaurant that is packed at lunch...Give it a try if you can get in...

You need to book the table in advance because this is a tiny restaurant. The food and the service are just amazing. The portions are very generous and without a doubt value for money. The antipasti della casa with all the different sauces are great. Crespelle cheese and truffles are a delicacy. Tagliata di maiale with truffles incredibly tasty. We could not order dessert because after ordering antipasti, primi e secondi we could not eat anything else. Impeccable service, really attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant.
