What can I say??? Except EXCELLENT!! The food, the atmosphere and the staff are really exceptional. I do not read or speak any German, but the staff really helped explain the menu. My wife is not a big eater (and the portions here are typically German - large!) but they catered for her perfectly. As she exclaimed "a gastronomic orgasum!" The prices are very reasonable for the excellent quality in the food too.. I highy recommended Meerhof!Thank you!

The place have two wide separate room with tipical wood fornitura, nice for the winter time, plus there is a modern separate room that face on the internal garden where is nice to have the dinner on the spring - summer time. The food availability is wide (especially for Schnitzel) throgh German courses, well prepared and good tasting. The service sometimes is "lost in space" but due to the very friendly atmosphere is not a deal.

The place is very nice, inside there are a big room with big screen for soccer match see, on the other side there are small table, very deliciuos forniture that make it very frendly and confortable, outside there is a nice biergarten facing the lake, simply beautiful on the summer time. The food is very good even if there is no change on the menù and after a complete trial of all the dishes it could become boring. The service is good with the right time and attention to your request. Miss Jessica lead well the situation. They are also ready for big groups or special event like wedding. Suggested.

I visited this family run, authentic German restaurant with my son and our friends recently, and it was such a treat. The food was incredible, especially my perfectly cooked juicy steak! The staff and other patrons were warm and welcoming, and it was a long, cozy dinner, on a gorgeous night, in the spectacular German countryside! I highly recommend you abandon the typical tourist traps, and venture out to experience a true German gem!

Every year we go to a nice restaurant with 2 other couples. About 10 years ago we were in the Altes Rentamt in Klingenberg (Ingo Hollands restaurant). The head chef, Ludger Helbig, now has his own restaurant and hotel in Johannesberg. The hotel and the restaurant are well worth a visit. The rooms were very romantic, with great views over Aschaffenburg towards Frankfurt. The food was great: kingfish, cod, oxtail ravioli, pigeon, soup, venison, and a dessert from 2 kinds of nougat, with a great sorbet.Wine selection is really good: we joked it was east (Franken) meets west (Rhône). Reasonably priced which is not always a given. So why "only" 4 stars:- really picky small details on service (one of the white wines was chilled enough; chef didn't come out and say hello; maitre d' didn't introduce herself - all minor points but contribute to a half point deduction)- the food, whilst great, was not that adventurous (with one possible exception - see below). Venison with seasonal veg, kingfish with sushi rice and algae: all good, but safe and secure selections. Another half point deducted for that. The one exception was the cod filet with oxtail ravioli - that was a real surprise and really great. Was left wondering how much effort must have gone into the ravioli just to give the cod a meaty and salty accompaniment. The atmosphere was relaxed (which by my definition means there were other tables laughing and enjoying themselves as much as we were - which is not always the case in other similar restaurants). The breakfast was great: cold cuts, coffee, eggs, wonderful breads and jams.Would I go back? For a once a year meal it is probably _just_ lacking the final touches, but otherwise I would definitely recommend it to anyone and look forward the next visit.

Had reserved here for dinner over the busy wine festival weekend. The ambiance is lovely, although bring your glasses to read menu in the low lighting! There was nice soft music with a piano player and a really great singer. We really appreciated it, not intrusive at all and the selection of songs was just perfect. In addition, the food was outstanding. The menu variety is very large and the portions are very generous. The starter sized spinach salad could have been a meal in itself as the salad had some side dishes, mushrooms and a cheese in a sauce dish, all so very good. The filet mignon was delicious as were the two side dishes I selected, beans with bacon and caramelized potatoes with rosemary. It is certainly on the pricey side but well worth it. The meal was very memorable and this was by far the best restaurant we ate at in Seligenstadt over three days.

Location, town square Alzenau. Friendly Bavarian restaurant, with fine home cooking, excellent menu for meat eaters, 7/8 vegetarian choices, limited to dishes containing cheese and cream, although I think they would prepare something vegan style if you speak German (or translate what you want and write it down beforehand), or speak to the odd staff member who speaks very good English (most speak a little, but few fluent). Menu written in English also available on request. Choice of beers excellent, all locally brewed beverages, and worth trying them all. Seating is inside or outside, and I fully recommend sitting outside on a hot Bavarian evening in the summer for a beer or three, although you would be wise to book a table in advance as every evening in the nice weather is busy, and from Thursday through to Sunday can be packed outside with any empty tables reserved. Food recommendations, anything from the menu is good home cooked food, served in pans, large plates and breadboards, and almost all main meals are mountainous portions. Vegetarian, the best are the cheese noodles, and flammkuchen which is like a thin crispy pizza with cream, feta cheese, tomatoes, olives and herbs on, again for vegans I think they can cook without dairy, or prepare a salad without cheese, and also a jacket potato (without the milk based herb sauce) if you can make yourself understood, also vegan friendly sides available if you can make yourself understood. If not, why not just eat something vegan from the local supermarkets? Most have an abundance of fresh and ripe fruit and veg, tofu based faux meat products, and a huge selection of bread, and then simply enjoy a few drinks on the porch here, and enjoy the great atmosphere. 3 out of 5 for vegetarians who don't mind dairy products (4 if you really like cheese or milk based products), 1 out of 5 for vegan food, 5 out of 5 for meat eaters. 5 out of 5 for anyone wanting to enjoy a local beer, although strict vegans do your homework on Bavarian beers (3.8 averaged out). Prices, from as little as 5€ to 18€ for food (steak being the most expensive, but locally sourced, around 2.9E for a 500ml beer.

Hotel' main restaurant is located in the 'old' or historical part of the hotel. Very cosy, warm atmosphere. Not a very big menu selection, but food is good and portions large. Prices are OK.Nice wine selection, rather expensive (compared to food prices).Service was OK (restaurant was full, we had to wait to place orders and refills - a couple of hands short...). Kitchen could easily handle the demands. We'll return.Dear Guest, thank you for your assessment and your needed time.We regret the long waiting period in our restaurant during your stay.We would be pleased to welcome you in our hotel again.Best regardsMiriam DebesReception
