This is a beautiful park-like cemetery of about 82 hectares to the south of Leipzig. It is just a delightful, peaceful place to have a walk and enjoy the surroundings. There are some lovely trees, including ginkgo, and rhododendrons up to 4 metres high. You can see red squirrels, rabbits and foxes and a wide variety of nesting birds. There are a number of famous German writers, artists and prominent figures buried here. It is open everyday from 8am until 6pm.

It is a green area and also very relaxing if you just want to sit for a few minutes and read
