Taj Mahal Tea House

A perfect blend of fine Teas and Indian classical music in the heart of Mumbai. In a celebration of India's love affair with tea, Brooke Bond Taj Mahal, the country's most loved indigenous tea brand from Hindustan Unilever, has launched the Taj Mahal Tea

Thanks to a dear friend who told me about this hidden away gem at Bandra, I went with family to have a light birthday lunch. Absolutely delighted with Taj Mahal Tea House. The place has been done up so refreshingly differently, retaining the old world charm of a wonderful Bandra bungalow. The artefacts, the rooms and niches, the tables and chairs, the crockery...all together create a charm that is so difficult to experience in Mumbai restaurants and cafes that opt for the sleek and contemporary look that end up seeming lifeless and cold. Taj Mahal, on the other hand, is warm and welcoming; you might almost believe you are going to your favourite aunt's family home for tea and snacks. We had lemon grass tea, filter coffee, and Toddy Soup with Dumplings (good dumplings, bad soup), and savoured Kasundi Malai paneer Salad (delicious!), Paneer and Spearmint Samosa (must try!), Chicken Stew With Orange flavoured rice (mild but so so flavour-filled), Monsoon Doughnuts ( perfect little pillows of crisp dough on the outside, and soft and yummy on the inside), and a unique Chai Mille Feuille (excellently flaky pastry). If you want to get in out of the rain, and spend a couple of hours in a charming setting with good food, this is certainly the place to trot to.Thank you Niloufer for taking out time to review us. We are sure our staff & chefs enjoyed catering to your needs as much as you enjoyed the time spent at our tea house! We look forward to serving you again.Regards,Team Taj Mahal Tea House.

Cafe Free India

A Vintage vibe that makes you reminisce, and mouth-watering food that you just can't miss! Explore the lovely combination of food & drinks @ Cafe Free India, Lower Parel

Reviewed By Geetha S

Introduction Imagine walking down memory lane, and sipping on a cuppa of chai, in a typical café back in the 1940’s. The unpretentious furniture comprises of cane chairs, and marble topped tables. The vibe is inviting, and the café comes alive with light-hearted banter. Inspirational branches Café Free India, seeks inspiration from the Indian Freedom Movement. The eatery is comfortable nestled in the vicinity of Lower Parel. They also have a branch in Bandra, and hope to inaugurate just another in Andheri, post the 2019 monsoon. The Vintage bits The Lower Parel property is leased on a premise that is over 50 years old. The property once catered to a famous Dairy. The café is managed and created by Rich Roche Hospitality, which is owned by Sachin Roche and his wife, Dr. Richa Agarwal. The décor comes alive with industrial furniture, which explores a different narrative of the bygone era. Sachin and Richa, strive hard at rendering the old-world charm to the café, which in a way imparts it’s own authentic flavour. Elements like marble tabletops, cane chairs, and switchboards from the 1940’s add to the charismatic appeal. Café Free India employs a warm and understanding staff. They’re quick on a heel, and serve patrons with due promptness. The crowd Invigorating aromas from the kitchen unfailingly lure patrons to try their simple, yet refreshing creations. It is interesting to learn how some of them keep coming back from time to time. The café is strategically located in the corporate area, luring office-goers. Family and friends frequent the place, on weekends. Take on TASTY The food reviews have been fantastic. I have shamelessly found myself binging on a number of things. Some of most famous delicacies include lip-smacking burgers, such as the ‘Southern Fried Cottage Cheese Burger’, ‘The Bombay B’urger (that comes with a freshly prepared beetroot patty), the yummy ‘Louisiana Crab Burger’, the ‘Crispy Chilli Prawn Burger’, juicy ‘Lucy Lamb Burger’ and many more. The Café Free India team doesn’t believe in stocking on frozen burger patties. Their burgers are made to order. Patron rave over their burgers stating, that the patty has a crispy outer and the meats and vegetables are all juicy and fresh. Some of the other specialities include the ‘French Onion Soup’, ‘Thukpa’, ‘Asian Pot Curry’, ‘Spaghetti and Meatballs’, and a delicious array of thin crust pizzas. The bar concocts an interesting number of signature cocktails and some of the regular favourites as well. The city-inspired cocktails include, ‘Bombay Green’, ‘Queens Necklace’, ‘Bombay 13’, ‘Veerappan’, ‘Kaali Peeli’ and more. The prices are reasonable, encouraging people o keep coming back. End Note All in all, going to Café Free India is like taking a walk down memory lane. A must visit.

We had a lovely experience on a Saturday evening. The decor and ambience is something you must see to believe. It’s extraordinary. The band with lead singer Rafi is just too wonderful and melodious and take the experience to another level. Food is just too fantastic and cannot be described in words. Full Marks to Mr. Nitin who is such a lovely person and 2 of his staff Mr. Ashish and the little enthusiastic boy running around Imran are extremely friendly and efficient and happy to help. Bravo It was very gracious of Mr. Nitin to make time to come and enquire if we were happy with the arrangements. My friend from Canada loved the mutton Rogan Josh and the variety of drinks on offer. Most of the people in the restaurant are very nice, kind and friendly people. However one negative was the rude and unfriendly manager Brijesh and the young lady at the entrance. They were unpleasant to everyone there. Their Attitude was more like they are doing a favour to customers. They need better training. Overall - Excellent. Highly recommended.

Candy and Green is a casual dining + bar place in Breach Candy that serves Asian, Italian, Continental, and Healthy food. It also has Vegan, KETO, Gluten-Free and Jain options available. The restaurant has tied up with Zomato so Gold Members can avail 2+2 on drinks. They also have various Sunday brunch, Four-Course Lunch, Ladies Luncheon, the 'Quintessential' hours on drinks and other ongoing offers that one can avail. In terms of connectivity, the restaurant is at a 2.5 km distance from Mahalaxmi Station so one can take a cab from there.Ambience:-The restaurant has a contemporary decor and is quite spacious with comfortable seating and enough space on the aisle. The place is well lit with natural light coming through the white and green-tinted glass and also with a line of quirky and contemporary designed lights in the interiors especially the bar section which is the highlight of the place. I loved the vintage wallpaper used having pictures of different wines, make sure to check it out. Overall, the place is well organised, clean and the ambience is splendid.Service:-The manager and the staff members here are friendly and courteous. The table was managed by Mr. Sameer who was swift in his service and recommended us various dishes. Mr. Chetan who handles the bar made us some delectable mocktails and took our feedback as well. Overall, the serving of the dishes was prompt and the staff here is polite. Here's the list of dishes/beverages we ordered:-Beverages:-Hydrate: An invigorating watermelon based mocktail, also consisting of rose and basil seeds. The circular watermelon balls and leaves, on a stick, for a garnish adds an elegant touch to the drink.Activated Charcoal Lemonade: This drink is a unique and delectable mocktail having a great blend of ginger lemonade and charcoal powder that leaves a piquant and refreshing after taste. I can't recommend it highly enough.P.S. The mocktails were served with steel straws, and not the plastic ones, which was really impressive. More restaurants should follow this.Salad:-Crunch Thai Salad: The well presented and healthy Thai salad was a great start to the luncheon. The salad bowl comprised of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, chickpea, crispy tortilla chips, purple cabbage, sliced bell peppers, and kale. One has the option to also mix creamy peanut sauce which came along in a small bowl. Though the lettuce tasted a bit sharp, the overall taste with the mix of peanut sauce was delicious.Starters:-Loaded Hummus: This is by far the most flavourful and creamy hummus I've tasted in Mumbai. The quantity of hummus was adequate; it was topped with pomegranate, feta cheese, scallion, and crunchy nuts which made it flavorsome. It was served along with two soft pita bread made at Candy and Green itself. A morsel of bread wrapped in hummus will literally melt in your mouth; it's just too good. Overall, the scrumptious dish was the highlight of the luncheon.Kale Chip Chaat:  The fried, crunchy and crispy kale topped with yogurt, moong, pomegranate, tamarind sauce; garnished with 'sev' and coriander, made for an absolutely toothsome dish. Again, a unique and well-presented dish which you should definitely taste. Props to the chef for this one.Mains:-Superfood Burrito Bowl: The goodness of  Mexican style beans, quinoa rice with corn, a delish mix of chopped bell peppers, shredded kale leaves and the garnishing of cheese is sure to satisfy your taste buds. It's perfectly cooked and is quite filling. The best way to savor this healthy dish is to mix it well first. The Superfood Burrito Bowl is definitely a stand out dish in the main course and I'd highly recommend it.Dessert:-Cheat Day Brownie Sundae: Since their elaborate menu comprises mostly of healthy food, a cheat day dessert option here is definitely a once in a while sinful indulgence. It's served in a huge mug filled with luscious chunks of brownie, covered in a generous amount of chocolate sauce, wafer stick chocolate and topped with vanilla icecream along with sprinklers. It's a dessert delight which is rich in taste and definitely the best way to end the luncheon. Highly recommended! In conclusion, the amazing ambience, splendid service, and scrumptious food are sure to make your luncheon/ dining experience worthwhile. The place has an abundance of offers and options to choose from which makes it a must-visit with friends and family!Overall rating: 5/5Smakelijk Eten.
