The Woodview Inn

The Woodview Villa (Inn) was a private dwelling until April 1946 when it was taken over by the partnership of Daniel P. Delaney and William F. Koepke who began running it as an Inn. Subsequently, Mr. Delaney and his wife took full ownership and added the Garden Suites in the early 1950's. Shortly after, the Inn and Restaurant were given the name ' The Athlone Inn and Restaurant', which remained the name until closing in 2014. The Woodview is a 10 room Inn, which includes breakfast with every night stay. Today your hosts, John and Steve, give a nod to this grand lady's former history and glory by celebrating her original name. Welcome to The Woodview Inn.

Best Inn Ever!

Reviewed By 210jacquier

We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Woodview Inn. What a gem! John and Steve are the most engaging and involved innkeepers I have ever met, always visible and present to ensure your stay is top-notch. Robin at the Front Desk is lovely and welcoming. Although we arrived when a party of 12 was checking in, she managed to take that quick moment to greet us and make us feel welcome. All of the staff were warm and professional. We stayed in Garden Suite #1, adjacent to the main inn. King bed with a comfortable pull out bed and a full kitchenette. Never have I been in a room in my travels where you don't find something askew, even if it is the most minimal. Not here. Impeccabily clean with attention to detail a priority. In the morning we had a lovely cooler outside our door chock a block full with fresh fruit, yogurt, orange juice, Proseco, granola bars and croissant sandwiches. The onsite restaurant, Graydon's ......WOW!! The food is exceptional. We had the filet mignon and ribs...both accompanied with seasonal vegetables and perfectly cooked! The filet mignon was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The ribs....best ever. A generous portion even with the 1/2 rack and the meat fell off the bone. The homemade sauce.....spectacular....wish they bottled it for sale. We started with the gourmet onion rings ( to die for ) and the seared Ahi tuna salad ( a special that evening). We will definitely be back, and will be certain to recommend The Woodview Inn as a great place to relax while visiting the Kingston-Gananoque area.

Great weekend at the Bulloch House

My wife and I spend a great weekend at the Bulloch House B&B. We stayed in the Bulloch Suite and loved the Balcony sitting area. Michelle was a great hostess and had many recommendations regarding the area. The B&B is within walking distance to everything which was very convenient. The breakfast was delicious …. I can’t say enough on how much we enjoyed it. Loved meeting the other guests that were in the B&B during breakfast as well. We will definitely be back for another stay. Highly recommend staying here. Thanks again Michelle

The Secret Garden Inn at Argyle Place

The Secret Garden Inn is fully restored and historically designated, was built in 1888 in the Queen Anne Victorian style. The Inn has a perfect 100 Walk Score from Trip advisor and is located in the heart of Kingston's historic district within walking distance of downtown, Queens University and the waterfront. After nearly a quarter of a century as a bed and breakfast, the historic Secret Garden Inn has undergone a remarkable, phased transformation into a full-service inn in 2020. As we update and reinvigorate the inn, we pay homage to its traditional Victorian style—while introducing the modern luxuries and finishes our guests desire to deliver a tranquil space. Finishes have been lovingly returned to their original patina; hardwood floors revitalized; original bathrooms renewed by new tiles and hardware. Some of the updates to guest and common areas include: • Fast, reliable high-speed wireless internet throughout the inn • Large 48” smart TVs • Individual Keurig-style coffeemakers • Hand-sewn Roman shades in vibrant colors • Sumptuous, hand-loomed cotton sheets • Casper Wave mattresses • Newly renovated bathroom with luxurious tiles and fixtures Each of our seven guest rooms has its own individual style. In designing our overall concept, we considered the brilliant colors of our eponymous garden. Room monikers are derived from recognizable local Kingston legends and iconic landmarks. Enjoy afternoon refreshments in the lovely parlour or library, a hot or cold drink on the covered front porch or sit near the serenity of the koi pond. Savor creative breakfasts served by candlelight in our oak paneled dining room with guests from around the world!

Wondering venue for an intimate wedding

The Secret Garden Inn was the perfect place to host our small wedding. We had our rehearsal, ceremony and reception all at the Inn and were able to offer our immediate family a comfortable place to stay. Victoria was very reassuring throughout the process and organized our catering, rentals and made sure that we were happy throughout. Ryan was our talented bartender and our guests loved his menu of creative cocktails. The chef was interactive and put a lot of hard work into our meals. The venue itself is beautiful and a wonderful place for photos as all the furniture adds charm to the space. Thank you to the rest of the staff behind the scenes that helped to make our experience so special. Tim & Michelle

If I had known such a wonderful accommodation existed in previous Montreal/Toronto trips I would have made a point of breaking up some of those drives to stay here. Jacques is a host who cares about his guests as well as the Inn he clearly loves. It is tastefully furnished but neither stuffy nor cluttered. While not all the bedroom windows opened there was air-conditioning.so there was no problem getting a good sleep. We enjoyed our breakfast in the lovely garden. Days later I still have strong happy memories of my stay.

Beaver Hall is a unique Georgian-Victorian mansion, constructed in 1826 and renovated in 1870 with a metal Mansard roof and 13 dormers. In 2006, extensive restorations were completed to the exterior and interior of the house. The 6800 sq ft house is spacious; the atmosphere relaxed, casual and friendly. Lovely historic home, warm welcome, great location, amazing breakfast!

What a great choice for two friends to meet up, explore town and have a fun and comfortable evening. Nathalie, our host, was lovely and welcoming, and had earlier ironed out a booking error I had made with total grace and civility. I am a fan of old buildings, the history and elegance of them shines through, and this gorgeous 200 year old home is a shining example. There are at least two comfortable sitting areas, but our room, the Heritage, was roomy enough for us to socialize with ease. I had French toast with fresh strawberries and lemon curd. So good!! My friend enjoyed the eggs Benny. A coffee/tea centre is set up in the house front room. This B and B is right beside the Riva restaurant, where we had a great supper. It’s also very convenient to walk downtown and to the waterfront. Parking is on the property. Highly recommend!!

A marvellous gem discovered in the Thousand Islands

Reviewed By S. James W

On previous trips to Gananoque, I routinely stayed at the Gananoque In--close to everything from boat cruises to the Thousand Islands Playhouse. On this occasion, the organizer opted to take over the entire hotel section of the Stonewater Pub--the Stonewater Manor and B&B (a continental breakfast delivered to our doors, featured melt-in-your mouth croissants); right across the street from my usual abode. And so our group occupied all three suites and the loft. Mine was “Webster”, beautifully appointed with multiple views (what fun to have a ringside seat for the annual Pride Parade!). The friendly staff were the perfect mix of helpful and unobtrusive. We also held our business meeting in a ground floor room, nearby the reception desk. And, of course, as we were the only guests, our meeting was never interrupted. Such a pity that we wrapped everything up in just a day--next visit will most certainly be an extended one.
