Good hotel, very comfortable bed, clean, breakfast included, a walk to town.
Reviewed By 76131RFDahn seems to be quite a tourist destination and this was the only 'reasonably' priced hotel. The price included breakfast and there didn't seem to be the option to book it without breakfast (breakfast is rarely worth it for us as we eat little in the morning) so it was a bit more than we're used to paying. The room was clean, functional, decent bathroom o what you would expect. We will say it was a very, very comfortable bed. For bicyclists there is a storage container to lock your bikes in. That is acceptable for us, although a garage or something would have made us feel more secure. We did have a room facing the front, and I would recommend if you are a light sleeper requesting one in the back. Breakfast buffet was good, with a good selection. Decaf coffee is instant, which is OK for us. However, one surprise was you had to pay extra for a cappuccino. We've never seen that in any hotel before. There is a nice bar for an evening drink and also a nice seating area out back. For bicyclists, we didn't want to take our bikes out of the storage container, it is a walk to town.

A historic building renovated for comfort
Reviewed By Carol0910This is a small hotel that had never had English speaking guests before. However, they were wonderful and treated us very well. The building is very old but has been renovated to include modern bathrooms. The stairs are spirals and can be a little challenging but make for a lovely atmosphere. The breakfast was simple but very good and pleasant. The restaurant was very good with a lovely waitress who translated the whole menu for us. They even made a special apple strudel for my husband when he ordered one. This is not a luxury hotel but it is very clean, comfortable and unique. It is up the street from a winery which we visited

A pleasant stop
Reviewed By Mark LA nicely kept, moderately sized hotel far enough away from the centre of Bad Durkheim to make driving easy and escape any crowds. Liked the comfortable room, the clean and modern bathroom, the breakfasts, the ample parking space and the relative ease of access from the main road. Wasn't sure what we'd find based on the photographs, but the interior outperformed expectations. Would happily stay here again.

Stay away, worst place I've ever been
Reviewed By VissingStarted out ok. Our motorcycles got locked inside at once. The place is apperently an old nursing home, so its not very appeling. We had two rooms and even though it was only 5pm on a saturday, my friends neighbours were fighting, drunk, yelling. There were the same type of guests that you can read about in another review about this place. We went out to eat and when we came back the noise was worse and the manager had left. So now we couldn't even leave, because our motorcycles was locked in, and the manager had the keys. The party continued but then ended around midnight. But before that, the guy Upstairs from me had vomitted from his balcony, past mine and down in to the garden. At 3 am the party started again. No sleep from anyone from then on. Called the manager, who didn't answer, so party until 7 o'clock when we finally could leave without Our Breakfast. No doubt that the manager is getting hos business ruined by those longstaying guest.

Reviewed By SteffibravDas Personal der Marktschänke ist in jeder Hinsicht ausßergewöhnlich freundlich und das nette Frühstück im Restaurant (kein Buffett) ist sehr angenehm. Alle Wünsche der Gäste werden umgehend erfüllt. Die Zimmer im Nebengebäude dagegen, eigentlich kein richtiges Hotel sondern eher ein Wohnhaus, sind sehr einfach, das Mobiliar ist weder schön noch hochwertig, die Einrichtung ist von der Zusammenstellung weder praktisch noch schön. Auch die handwerkliche Qualität der Arbeiten ist auf niedrigem Niveau. Der als Minibar aufgestellte Kühlschrank roch ganz ganz schlecht. Mir tut es leid für die netten Mitarbeiter des Restaurants, aber das Hotel ist nur bedingt eine Empfehlung.

Inhospitability at Bettelhaus-Bad Durkheim-Ungstein
Reviewed By GermanyKevinFirst of all, we arrived late before 10 in the evening so there was noone at the reception.We called the owner on the phone and he said he had left a key at the back door in a key box.We started searching for the key.There were more doors in the back.All were closed.We searched for something that looked like a box, no luck. We were ready to give up when I saw the dog tray, a key was in it. The last thing you want to do at that hour and with a 10 months old baby in your arms is to go treasure hunting. Second, the price of the room included breakfast and a "non existing" bottle of mineral water.On the first morning the breakfast consisted of bread and jam.No drinks next to it.No one was in sight and the kitchen was in a total mess.The second day the breakfast was the same but to my luck the owner was there so he brought some butter and milk when he saw me.The third and last day at the hotel, because some other unfortunate traveler had stopped there, we had a decent breakfast. A nicely ornated plate with cheese and ham. Last but not least, the place was extremly noisy.In the morning the workers were repairing the road, in the evening the owner was socializing with neighbours in front of our window and in the night somebody was playing a trompet or the owner was busy arranging the garbage
