Top 10 Bed and Breakfast Inns in Kenmare, Ireland

April 30, 2023 Mollie Coke

The “little nest” of Kenmare is part of the famed Ring of Kerry, making it a prime stop for a spot of lunch and a pint. But before you go on your merry way, check out the area’s Bronze Age stone circle, one of the largest in southwest Ireland. The peaceful glens and streams of Gleninchaquin make a wonderful backdrop for a picnic, which you can work off on a walk along the Kenmare section of the Beara Way.

What a great place. The room was huge for the area. King size bed which is hard to find. Bar underneath was great for dinner and a drink. There was no noise from the bar at all in the room. Perfect! The staff was amazing and friendly as well. Parking was easy to find on the street.

Fabulous stay

We hadn’t anywhere booked to stay in Kenmare when we arrived for a night last week. We went to Foleys to see if they had rooms available and we were greeted with a very friendly staff member. There was a B&B room available and it was very reasonably priced. The room was modern, clean, cosy and had everything we required. We had dinner in the restaurant which is very spacious & comfortable. There is a good selection on the menu to choose from. My boyfriend had a pasta dish and I had the chicken curry both were very tasty. The staff were very friendly and the service was fantastic. There was music that evening in the bar area which was very enjoyable and brought a great atmosphere. There was a great selection for breakfast. Ours was lovely, we both had porridge & honey, poached eggs, bacon with hollandause sauce. I would highly recommend. We will definitely return here.

Absolutely delightful

Host Julia was welcoming, warm and full of fabulous suggestions to add to my itinerary. Her library is amazing and she is generous in allowing guests to borrow books. I stayed in the Twin Room (solo traveler) for 7 nights and it was comfortable, spotless, tided up daily and had a beautiful view of the brook behind the house (and a calming soundtrack at night). My entire stay was peaceful and absolutely wonderful. The other guests were courteous, respectful and friendly. Breakfast daily was delicious and varied. It's a short walk into town on a paved sidewalk and Kenmare makes an amazing base to visit many wonderful things in County Kerry. Would highly recommend and will book another stay when I return to Ireland again. :)

Ardmore House B&B

Even though he was 'closed' for the holidays he put us up and served us a great breakfast!

Reviewed By johnsB7708RO

My daughter and I were hiking the Kerry Way in December of 2018 and we arrived in Kenmare on Christmas Eve. My daughter was feeling under the weather and we had been hiking in the rain for part of the day and decided to try to find a room for the night. We were able to book the Ardmore House and were able to walk there from the town center in a matter of minutes. Tom was surprised when we knocked on his door and he explained that he was doing a charity event the next day and that he thought he had blacked out this night. None the less he quickly invited us in and showed us our room, he only asked if we could take breakfast early (before 8 am) which was no problem. We both had a good nights rest and a great Irish breakfast prepared by Tom. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable and would stay here again.

This is the second time we (two motor-bikers from England) have stayed here. Last year we extended our stay from one nights to two, and this year from one nights to three. We stay longer than intended because it is such a pleasant place to be. There are gardens to relax in and have beer and/or cake. It is just ten minutes walk into the centre of Kenmare and easy access to all of the surrounding countryside.

Very impersonal, keys just handed over and told to be left on the counter in the morning. Clean room and bed with the basic necessities, good wifi and coffee/tea. They don’t do breakfast but there are lots of cafes close by. Good location right in the center. Ok for a good night’s sleep but that’s about it.

Best experience for our family of 4

Reviewed By U1363JVbrians

We booked a room at OSheas for 4 nights early April with our two kids, 10 and 11 years old. It was just wonderful here. Therese was so welcoming and kind. Breakfast was amazing (her scones are THE BEST we have ever had). She went out of her way to help with local travel ideas, customize our breakfast options (kids looked forward to pancakes every day) and just make us feel at home. I can't imagine a better experience for our family. Thank you Therese for everything. Our family has been through a lot in the past couple of years and this was absolutely the perfect getaway from it all. I know that when our kids grow up, they will remember our time with you. We hope to come back some day! Thank you for everything.
