Poor bad hotel
Reviewed By Explorer565312Will never visit the place again. It’s located in the slums and has a intolerable urinal smell throughout my stay. I regreted my entire stay. It’s a pity such a place can deceive the tourists and give a overall wrong impression about our Chennai. It’s nothing like what the picture says.

Tired but well located
Reviewed By atomcatStayed 4 nights in an AC room. Limited hot water - my husband & I had a few cold showers. Mosquitoes in room - management should have mosquito zappers in powerpoints. The window in our bathroom did not have a screen. Quiet so good sleep quality. Wifi available. There is an elevator. Breakfast is a combination of Indian & western offerings (included in tariff). Lunch & dinner (veg & non-veg) also available for an extra charge & needs to be ordered. List of snacks, drinks are listed in the room & times when they are available - sadly no one told the kitchen! Good position being diagonally opposite the Egmore metro & railway stations. You can use the metro to get to the YWCA from the airport or vice versa. On enquiring, management gave me the contact number for a reliable taxi driver. Despite having paid a 50% deposit back in November, front desk staff members were oblivious to the fact. As a consequence, checkout was a confused, drawn out process. It is a reasonably priced place to stay & well located. It could be so much more if more effort was made to cater for tourists (although I do believe that that's not in its charter). Maps of the area would've been helpful, pointing out simple things like location of ATMs, supermarkets, restaurants.

Rooms are well maintained. Mr.Zabeer is worth praising For his dedication and helpfulness,always with pleasant smile. Overall very good and comfortable stay in budget price, very near to Chennai central Railway Station also. Water available even during highest crisis in Chennai.

Reviewed By souvikb298Had been to the hotel two weeks before purpose being Cardiac Checkup of my father at Apollo Main .Reached there late night owing to flight delay.The hotel led my a very capable Manager Mr Aslam and his focussed and dedicated staff helped us to be at peace.While medical tourism schedules are often hectic and strenuous , the hotel ensured all our requests are accomodated, tea being available very early morning before leaving for registration, rooms and sheets being cleaned every day. The best part was availability of hygenic Bengali food at a reasonable price, to be orderes from nearby resturants.Hotel had no objection regarding consumption of outside food inside their premises.The staff even went extra mile and provided for the plates and spoons to ensure we are not eating out of plastic containers.

I travelled along with a driver and my dad (who is elderly) by road from my parents house about 700 km away. We had called earlier in the day to book a room for us to stay. The person at the front desk spoke as if we was unsure about our booking, and did not get an assuring answer, but were only assured a room after sufficient cajoling. Now, for unseen circumstances, we reached chennai early morning and were made aware, that the room we had booked was gone. However, after assuring that we need a room and need to stay until 4:00 PM for allowing the person driving to rest, we were given a small two bedroom. The room was untidy. In the bathroom there were cups left on top of the wall. While our driver was getting his rest, they cut off the electricity to the room. **Mind you this is Chennai in the middle of summer. It gets very very hot**. He was given unconvincing answers by the front desk. The bellboy even tried to find out the reason and have the electricity turn back on. When I took this matter to the front desk, they blamed the Electricity supply first, followed by electric work going on elsewhere, followed by only section of the hotel was impacted etc. My work takes me to many places and I have stayed in many hotels. This hotel joins the list of the worst places to stay in my list. You will be well served by other hotels in Chennai. TDLR: - We werent given the room that was booked (3 bed), instead got a two bed. - Bathroom had cups on top of the wall. Could be cleaner. - Bedspread had a hole in it. - Electricity was cut off while someone was in the room.

Rude staff, Tiny rooms, No room service
Reviewed By designer_sheetal5I had been here last week. We had booked two standard rooms which were too tiny. They do not allow 2 people in a single room. I had my friend and her mother with me they were ready to share a single tiny room but the staff didn't allow them then we upgraded to suite room for them. The staff here is very rude and not accommodating at all. When we were chatting in the dining hall the old person/in-charge/manager asked us to sit outside saying he had to clean the table. We were out the whole day from Saturday night to Sunday morning, when I returned the room wasn't cleaned/serviced. Moreover, Shower in the room wasn't working. I will never visit this place again. The whole experience was disappointing.

Everyone at the mermaid resort was just lovely to us We made special memories. As always, thank you. What a beautiful environment you get to work in every day….the resort and people all make it so very special. We stayed in an deep end villa 506 on the second floor Beyond the relaxing atmosphere of the villa, the next best part was the fantastic food and excellent service at the Main Restaurant. The breakfast buffet choices looks simple and has a great variety of food choices and the preparation made for superior tasting. The staff was very attentive, professional guided by the experience manager Mr Sebastin as back of sheraton for 15 years
