Reviewed By 989triciabJust back after an eight night stay. Had the most amazing time. Staff were excellent. Great service all round. Rooms were spotless cleaned every day with fresh towels. Pool area was lovely. Had lunch a few times. Food was delicious. Proper home made Italian food. Breakfast was plentiful with loafs of choice. Cakes were amazing. Only a five minute walk into town with lots of lovely restaurants. I would highly recommend. And would most certainly return.

The B & B La Suite del Faro is located on the promontory of Scalea overlooking the Gulf of Policastro, with a breathtaking view of the sea, is halfway between the Centre of Scalea and the enchanting Bay of San Nicola Arcella. Is a beautiful villa, recently built, with lush green garden. During the summer season a nice swimming pool with Roman stairs and adjoining Jacuzzi is at guests ' disposal. Here you can bask in the Sun all day on a comfortable sun lounger or a sun lounger by the pool or on the lawn, or enjoy a refreshing dip at the end of a day spent in one of the many beautiful beaches of the coast. The hotel has a breakfast room and a cliche, and in summer you can enjoy your breakfast by the pool, admiring the coast from the island of Cirella to Punta Infreschi, so you have the feeling of being on a cruise ship. Your stay will be one of four elegant rooms, finely furnished, air conditioned, hairdryer, satellite TV, direct access to the garden of the villa and the swimming pool. Each room is equipped with private bathroom, cured in details, and three have shapeless marble decorations that build the shower tray offering the feeling of making a special shower.

Reviewed By Sanny1748Cannot recommend Vittorio and La Suite Del Faro enough, the view overlooking the ocean is spectacular. This was our 3rd stay though for only one night, previous stays have been longer. The rooms are modern, comfortable and so clean. Breakfast next to the pool was lovely with freshly made pastries, juice, coffee, option of eggs and bacon always offered. Vittorio is so professional and accommodating, going out of his way to recommend and book restaurants! We will never stay anywhere else on our visits to Scalea

Reviewed By Rosiek28We stayed in Tropea a few years ago at Villa Paola - before it got "famous" - and we loved it but agreed it would be better to be right in the Centro Storico if we visited Tropea again. We sought out the hotel we would next stay at - Palazzo Mottola. It was clearly the best hotel within the town back then and suited our needs of dining out every night and use of the beaches rather than a swimming pool. Make sure you get a transfer that is authorised to driving within the Centro Storico otherwise you will get dropped outside and if you have never been before, you will no doubt get lost. We were fine. Through an unassuming door just off the best little piazza (IMO) and you are away from the craziness. Just a simple reception - always prosecco upon arrival and you sit on the little bacony while they process your arrival/room. All three ladies whom we dealt with were amazingly helpful and friendly. Breakfast is continental unless you ask for cooked items - eggs in many different ways but they will try to please you, even offering to nip out and buy something if they don't have it. I love una torta or pastry for breakfast in Italy so I was content. We did nothing but eat breakfast and sleep there overlooking the most beautiful sea in Europe (we have been to the Seychelles, Maldives, Caribbean etc...). Tropea is best kept a secret - We decided to retire here the last time we were in Tropea, and this visit renewed our desire to! Palazzo Mottola is without a pool, but with an amazing roof top bar. They will arrange a tuk-tuk (amazing experience) to beach clubs/lidos or you can walk. They are so cheap compared to other European beach clubs. PM has limited rooms being boutique, but it has everything you need. The service is impeccable and the friendliness of the staff was second to none. I know we will return, even just to meet the staff again. Absolutely loved every second of our stay. Thank you ladies xx

Our guests enjoy the same freedom and happiness that in a B & B and at the same time have the services of a great hotel.The new building is located in a residential neighborhood in the heart of Tropea, only 950 meters from the historic center and just 500 meters from the beautiful beaches. The house, nestled in a small garden, is easy to reach by car and has its own, large, parking with video surveillance. The rooms, very bright, offer guests a high level of tranquility and comfort. The external thermal system, the air conditioning system and the hydronic photovoltaic, guarantee, in addition to respect for the environment, a high level of comfort. The furnishings and finishes are modern and the rooms are soundproof, each have their own terrace or balcony or garden equipped table, reclining chairs and sun loungers. The breakfast is one of our strengths. Are the favorite sought after local products with an obsessive attention to neighboring markets and campaigns. Reviewed By MarceloolI could not think of a better place to be in the whole Italy! Staying at Residenza RoMa in Tropea for one week was definitely the highlight of the trip. First of all, the room is amazing, modern, clean, spacious and with a outside area for you to enjoy the pleasant evenings. The internet connection is also good ( this was important for us since we were working some days) and the location is also good, just some minutes away from the city or from the beach. The breakfast, oh the breakfast! My god, sometimes I was not sure if I was awake or dreaming ? But the best thing from this place is not a thing. Is its people. We had the best attention and care from Anna, Antonio and Chris. It was amazing! I leave here my gratitude for them and for everything we lived there. Really, I have no worlds to describe it. I can only recommend you to give yourself this experience when in Tropea.

We booked last minute and were warmly welcomed by Lorenzo with a huge smile and a list of recommended restaurants, bars and attractions which were all fantastic. The rooms are modern, spotlessly clean, fully equipped and quiet. We couldn’t ask for anything more. Our best stay in Italy by far. It’s a great location for a 5 minute walk to the main area. We loved Reggio Calabria too, one of the most authentic and reasonably priced cities in Italy. It’s not touristic, it’s s proper Italy. Cannot recommended this hotel and city enough. I’ll be coming back next year. Thank you to all the lovely staff who looked after us so well.

Reviewed By Kim GWe stayed there last week to do kiting at the Gizzeria beach. The room was really lovely and they must have been renovated recently and with top quality for everything. It was also big so that we had room for all our equipment. The staff are especially friendly and helpful.

The breakfast choice and quality is fantastic and having it served to your own private balcony is such a great idea. We were made to feel so welcome and the availability of sparkling water, juices etc for the room fridge was a nice touch. Our room was fabulous with amazing views over Tropea, the sea, the Santuario and the Aeolian Islands - sunsets amazing. Sunset Tropea is in a great location, so easy to walk into the 'centro storico' and only 5 minutes by taxi from the train station. We can highly recommend a stay there and would certainly choose to go back.

We were really struggling to find the positives, but the ones that we picked are: - The hotel is located in beautiful capo vaticano and the views are breathtaking; - The receptionist is a very nice guy, always polite and ready to help; - The room was cleaned and tidied every single day. BUT there were so many negatives.. - Firstly, there was an insane humidity in our room as the room in itself had only one tiny window. Even the bedsheets felt wet and the towels and the room had a smell. We asked to change the room, however it was 150€ extra; - Secondly, there is a hidden fee for - the beach towels, transportation to the beach and the lounge chairs as well as the umbrella on the beach. The so called bus takes you to the beach only three times a day - at 9.30am, at 10am and at 1pm so if you don’t get onto one of those you can find yourself walking down a slippery path down the hill because a four star hotel doesn’t have a normal path to its private beach. Nonetheless, you have to take the towels in the reception and bring them down yourself and then bring them back up again.. Moreover, a four star hotel doesn’t have a toilet on the beach. Thus, the shower is not working properly on the beach; - Thirdly, when we booked the room, it didn’t say that the booking is full board. So apparently breakfast, lunch and dinner were included into the price. But let me tell you this - what a huge disappointment the food was!! We managed to find at least something to eat during breakfast (the coffee from the coffee machine was horrendous), but the dinner was something worth forgetting and the sooner, the better. We would have much rather had an option to choose half board and pay less, than have an unnecessary full board which we never used. - Fourthly, we were supposed to stay there for 5 nights, but ended up checking out after 3. To our disappointment, nobody seemed to care why we have decided to leave and check out earlier, nobody seemed to be bothered to ask what was wrong. All in all, this hotel deserves max 3 stars. The quality doesn’t match the price and it’s definitely not worth the money you are paying.

Better late than never
Reviewed By Steve HWe originally booked in 2019 to stay at this hotel in 2020. The booking was made on a non refundable basis. When we were unable to travel in 2020 because of COVID restrictions, the hotel kindly gave us a voucher to be used at a later date. Our plans for 2021 were again cancelled because of COVID but we did eventually make it in May 2022. The holiday season did not seem to have fully kicked in at the hotel or in Tropea in general. On arrival Federica advised us that she had upgraded us into a better room. I'm not sure if this was to reward us for our persistence or because there were not many rooms occupied. The room we were given was clean, well designed and very spacious. There was a small balcony and a sea view. Breakfast is normally taken in the garden but because there were so few guests, it was delivered to our room on the first 3 mornings. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very helpful. The hotel is about 5-10 minutes drive from Tropea. It was generally peaceful during the day and very peaceful at night. However, when returning from Tropea one evening we did come across a number of wild boar rooting around the hotel gardens. Not something I have experienced before. Thanks to Federica, her husband and the rest of the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Reviewed By Israel RA new nice hotel located inside a residential apartment building. We could not find any signpost for the hotel and it took us quite a while to locate it. Quite a few neighbors we asked for directions did not know the hotel at all. The hotel itself looks and smells like "brand new". The rooms we received were modern and wonderful, the bathroom fully equipped and with the latest innovations and products. The staff is young and friendly, always at your service and helps with all requested information and guidance. A good and varied continental breakfast. The dining room is located on the basement floor in a most decorated and cozy hall. One problem we encountered is parking. In the hotel’s advertisement, they indicate that there is adjacent parking. Since the building, apart from the hotel has private tenants that has priority over parking, there is no parking for hotel guests. A public, free of charge and non-secured public parking is lokated a few hundred meters from the hotel.
