Imagine you’re living in a sumptuous Roman villa, in the 2nd century AD, in the city of Zeugma ( close to Gaziantep in South Eastern Turkey ). Imagine the brilliant artists and mosaic makers who would cover the entire floor area of your villa with fabulous mosaics like these. Then, centuries pass, and these villas with all the wealth of their art works get buried. Fast forward to the 20th century when the whole district around Zeugma became a dam creating project to supply water to south eastern Turkey. As the area started to be flooded, archaeologists from all over the world rushed into Turkey to excavate the area as quickly as possible. And fortunately, they were just in time to save these fantastic mosaics for the world. So now, we can all go to the Zeugma Museum in the gorgeous city of Gaziantepe to gaze with wonder on these works. A very moving experience. Do go!

This vast and splendidly designed museum is alone worth the trip to Şanlıurfa. The collection ranges from the Palaeolithic period until now, and it contains so many exquisite pieces. The section on Göblekli Tepe is excellent and provides a wonderful insight into this mysterious culture. It deserves a good number of hours to see this stunning collection. 6 stars !!!!

It is one of the example structures which are facade architecture for social purposes. Modern museum is in the temporary list of UNESCO world heritage. Has been constructed by two Japanese architects. It is composed of wooden volumes. It is in the district of Odunpazarı. It has cross cultural platforms and contemporary art from Turkey and abroad.I admired the bamboo structure made by Tanabe Chicuunsai IV, he has used traditional bamboo basket weaving techniques and used the tiger bamboo grown only on a Japanese mountain. You shouldnt miss this art object.
