Reviewed By JannewhWe had 3 very good nights at the Highland resort, with nice rooms at a great location. The breakfast was not the best but the staff was very friendly and they where good at organising trips in the area. I would highly recomend this place if you are in tomohon

Peaceful, beautiful place

Because we were the only guests (the first of January Gardenia was closed) we could enjoy the garden and the peaceful environment even more. The owner, who is super kind, invited us to celebrate new years eve together and we had a great meal together. Thank you Gardenia for creating an amazing memory for my family!

Our resort consist of traditional wooden bungalows, around a beautiful garden, authentic and part of the surrounding forest and meadows as if it had been in the location forever. A hideaway for people let them forget the hustle and bustle of the world. 12 Cottages are located around the garden, mainly built from wood with space for 2-4 persons and have their own terrace. There is restaurant located in the resort, a massage bungalow (SPA) and a small playground for children. At Mountain View Resort & SPA you will find a lot of comfort like free internet connection (WiFi), SAT-TV, room service, early bird breakfast for mountain climbers and birdwatchers, laundry service, cars for rent, daily guided tours,... Good value for money but could be so much better
Reviewed By PimvanSchendelWe got good value for our money, we stayed with 6 people, 4 adults & 2 children for 1 night for only US$ 90. In that price we got dinner for 6 + 7 beers and breakfast in the morning. That's a very good price but I would happily paid a little bit more if the standard would have been a bit higher and even for this price things could have been better organised. I made a reservation via email & WhatsApp, that all went smooth and easy. I booked a family chalet for all of us together, 2 bedrooms with each 2 beds. On arrival they first showed us the wrong room, only after mentioning that we booked something else they realised what was happening and we were shown to the correct chalet. The chalet is a traditional wooden house from this region, very charming and I always love staying in them. It was clean, a bit old and dusty maybe but ok for us. 3rd bed in 1 room turned out to be a mattress on the floor. Dinner was tasty, very simple local fried rice & noodles and the menu had very little choice. They could have a bit more variation on it. But we were hungry and ate, enjoyed it with a couple of cold beers. We slept very comfortable, good mattresses and the cooler climate in Tomohon is always nice for a good night of sleeping. But.....early morning, just after dawn, staff started arriving for work. And I think right below our chalet was the meeting place, park place for staff motor bikes and a storage or so. I woke up because of 1 staff arriving on a motor bike and afterwards loud talking on the phone with her boy friend or father explaining when she left home. This went on for a few minutes and she left. I though I sleep again but the next staff member arrived on a motorbike taking something from the storage below or close to our chalet. Sleeping didn't really happen anymore after that. Breakfast was very poor, again choice from fried rice & noodles but also pancakes. The kids loved the pancakes which made my morning sunny and happy again. The coffee was good but other then that there was not much to enjoy. On check out I wanted to pay with my credit card. Turned out that only 1 lady new how to operate the credit card machine and she was taking a shower. So we had to wait 15 minutes before we could pay. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't an issue but this could have been handled much more professional. Overal we had a pleasant stay, the resort is beautifully situated, rooms are basic but ok, we had a nice warm shower but there was a clear lack of management. The staff tried their best but are just not trained well enough. But the price was right and if you are looking for a budget place in tomohon, dont have to much expectations than I can recommend this resort to you. Another couple was staying there with their young children and they were having an amazing time.

Good price and a good hotel
Reviewed By SoulsailRainbowWe arrived just before New Year the kitchen was closed so we had a hard time finding something to eat in Tomohon. The room was in the new block there was no hot water, not the end of the world except the weather was not great so it was a little cold. The staff don't speak very good English but the owner can be called to communicate anything you need. Perfect position if you have transport although a taxi can be called no problem, google maps are not correct so we had a job finding it. We met the owners niece and friends and spent a lovely evening with them even dressing up in Korean traditional costume. Rooms spacious and clean decorated to a high standard, fantastic WiFi and TV good choice of breakfast as long as you like a little spice! Thank you for a great stay.

Reviewed By editkisI m surprised to see the 3.5 point only. This place is clean well organised and definitely worth a visit. Food is good as well. The view to the garden from our room through the full glass walls was beautiful. We loved to sit outside in the evenings drinking our jus nenas. The owner Onong is a great guy, speaks english very well and does everything for you to enjoy you stay. Also doing private tours to the area. I m so happy we finally booked this place, we even stayed one extra night. Onong also helped us when our flight got cancelled. He called the airline to make sure we get the refund. The tour we did with him was superb. Climbing the Locon vulcano and visit many beautiful nearby sites. He even took us to a secret place - sorry cant tell. He also offered transfer to the airport on our last morning. Thank you Onong!

Reviewed By brendanethDe eigenaar en familie zijn vriendelijk en behulpzaam. We konden ter plekke een scooter huren om de omgeving te ontdekken. Als je geen eigen auto hebt en geen scooter wilt rijden is dit misschien niet zo’n fijne plek want het is ver overal vandaan. Echter de top van vulkaan Mahawe kun je hiervandaan binnen een uurtje te voet bereiken. Op de kaart staat alleen een westers ontbijt, maar op verzoek wordt ook Indisch ontbijt geserveerd.

Reviewed By alexa0108im stay here with my family. i stay for 3 night. beautiful hotel, big swimming pool. but this hotel management should to pay more attantion with this point : - u have to training ur staff, how to to work on Front Office. more careful, smile and friendly! - when we enter the room, the room is very dirty. the staff give us the weong room. - when check in i already ask for extra bed.. they said will prepare the extra bed. i make 3 call only for this extra bed. first call, the man said “make sure the room” second ” on the way” and third “8-9 ago the extra bed already send to the room” bit we havent receivevthe extra bed. that time, we realy tired and we have flight in the early morning. hotel side is really bad for the service. - the room floor is leaking..

The best deal in town
Reviewed By evert29the best deal in town, i booked 3 deluxe rooms (1 twin, 2 doubles) for me and my friends, and surprised when we opened the rooms, they were so huge, clean, and anything you need in a hotel room they do have it there, the bathroom was big and bathtub available in each room, the breakfast was also delicious, so many food option and of course the staffs were very accommodating, the price was a very good deal for this great hotel

Nice villa in residential area
Reviewed By Marcel5The villa is just outside Tomohon centre. No problem if you rent a car or motorbike. It is a residential area, so no traffic noise but you hear some sining from a church nearby, early in the morning. Michelle does not live on the property but she is very responsive to textmessages. The caretakers, an older couple, are very helpful but do not speak English. The area is cool, so the lack of aircon is no problem. Breakfast is asian oriented, but there is fresh fruit and some bread too. We really enjoyed our stay, Michell gave us some great sightseeing tips and the villa is comfortable. A few little things would upgrade the place a lot, like a mirror in the bathroom, a change of bedlinnen if you stay more than 2 nights and a toaster for the bread. On the other hand, it really is not a hotel, it is more a homestay or airbnb so it is acceptable it does not have the service of a hotel. And Michelle is a very nice host.
