At here with two friends an a somewhat cloudy day that kept threatening to rain. However, we braved it and sat outdoors, a nice distance away from the big beer tent that was set up for the big soccer games going on during June. We had a nice table and were able to look out on one side to the beautiful park in the center of town(the other side had neat, well maintained sport center), Service was quick and efficient; the pizza was very, very tasty. Had a red wine with it and was more than satisfied with the quality and portion size. I would definitely go there again. Perhaps next year when I go through Rudolstadt again?

Der Brummochse ist ein Gasthaus, das selbst für den neudeutschen Begriff "Old School" noch zu bodenständig ist. In der winzigen Wirtsstube gibt's Sonntag mittags nur 2 Gerichte zur Auswahl: Thüringer KlöÃe mit Rindsroulade oder Thüringer KlöÃe mit Putenroulade. Aber eigentlich ist das Fleisch hier die Nebensache, denn man kommt hierher wegen der KlöÃe, die in Geschmack und GröÃe auch unerfahrene KloÃesser überzeugen. Tipp: Unbedingt reservieren!

Der vermeintliche Italiener (ja, es gibt Pizza) hat mehr türkische als italienische Gerichte auf der Karte. Das ist ja okay, wollte ich aber erwähnt haben. 2 von uns haben deshalb Pide bestellt, diese türkischen Teigschiffchen, die es auch in vielen Dönerstuben gibt. Die waren in Ordnung. Aber für 11 bzw. 13 Euro jetzt auch nicht wirklich günstig. Die groÃe Enttäuschung waren allerdings die beiden Fleischgerichte. Ein kleines Schnitzel mit wirklich wenigen Pommes Frites, die nicht besonders frisch und lecker waren. Ein Salatblatt und ein paar verkochte Champignons als Beilage haben auch nicht überzeugt. Das Steak mit Pfeffersauce, grünen Bohnen und Bratkartoffeln für 22 Euro war insgesamt ein totaler Reinfall. Das Fleisch selbst war zwar okay, aber wir haben noch nie so eine komische Pfeffersauce gesehen. Ein wässrige Mehlschwitze, die nach Pfeffer schmeckte (aber nach sonst auch nichts) und voller Klümpchen war. So etwas kann man wirklich nicht anbieten. Die Bratkartoffeln schienen nicht hausgemacht zu sein, eher wie aus der Packung, sehr fettig, aber dafür schlecht angebraten, sprich komplett weich. Die Bohnen hätten knackig sein dürfen, waren sie aber leider nicht. Auch die Würzung nur naja. Service: bescheiden, lange Wartezeiten. Gerichte kamen trotz gleichzeitiger Bestellung mit 10 Minuten Abstand und das Besteck kam immer erst 2-3 Minuten nach dem Essen zum Tisch. Echtes No-Go!

Auf der Durchfahrt nach Weimar fanden wir abseits der Touristenpfade - bei strömenden Regen - dieses nette kleine Kaffee im Handwerkerhof im Stadtzentrum. Bei hausgemachten Kuchen und einer sehr leckeren Quiche Lorraine lieÃen wir das schlechte Wetter draussen. Eine freundliche Bedienung in einer sehr netten Umgebung, die bei schönerem Wetter noch besser zu genieÃen ist. Ein guter Rastpunkt bei der Besichtigung der zu unserer Ãberraschung reizvollen Stadt. A very lovely hotel in the middle of a fantastic bike region -Thüringerwald!! Super friendly people who always have a smile for you. Had the sauna by my own and it was turned in especially for me at 8.30 p.m. Great thing after a chilly ride during the day. Also a very good breakfast. Loved to stay there !!

This stylish modern place has a limited menu but is marvelous for a drink, coffee or sweet because of an outstanding location. From your table wherever you are seated there is a fabulous view from the castle mount of Rudolstadt and the region.

Arrived here late on a sunny afternoon from a good visit to Erfurt seeking early dinner and it was excellent, on west edge of attractive Rudolstadt. Sat outside under a fruiting walnut tree, by the garden rear of historic Schiller Haus (where the German poet /playwright lived briefly in late 1780s), and was served a fine meal. Simple food but delicious,like tomato soup, and pork medallions con chanterelle mushrooms et al. Mushroom soup also very good and a herb garnished pork steak. Service was excellent.

Wir waren mit ein paar Freunden dort. Sehr freundliche Bedienung, sehr gute Qualität des Essens, angemessene Preise. Das Lokal ist klein, eine Reservierung ist hilfreich.

Just had dinner with a work colleague. The steak with pepper sauce was great. The beer is great and nice staff also. Situated in the town square so easy to find.Will be visiting again when i am in town.

I live in Rudolstadt, a little charming town in Thuringia.If you wanna go for real Thuringia food like the famous dumplings or roulade or deer or trout or fresh white asparagus in respective season...you will find always best quality choice here.The prices are reasonable, the service is personal and you will meet the locals there. If you wanna go for lunch on weekend, do not forget to book your table.Furthermore they organize nice events like public viewing during soccer world championship, one weekend "Hoffest" with also famous "Bratwurst" and "Rostbrätel" from the grill...really yummy!The interior is well maintained and remembers to the good old time.We go there frequently and can really recommend the food and the location.
