I use to visit this amazing forest at least three times a year. It’s as beautiful in the spring as in the fall. You can se all kinds of trees from all over the world, bring a picnic and sit down by the river and enjoy the full nature. It’s also possible to go to the restaurant and eat an amazing dinner or just take a coffee. This is one of my favorite places to go both alone, with my family and friends, don’t miss out on this beautiful place!

Our son took us over to Holmon on the ferry. We had a great time. The island is quite beautiful, it is tranquil and a place to wind down in. Near the ferry there is the boat museum. A wonderful collection of nautical bits and pieces including more than 1/2 dozen entire boats. There are boatbuilding tools, fisherman’s nets etc. Fascinating. After a spot of excellent lunch at the restaurant/cafe we then walked through the village to the lighthouse. We passed the windmill being restored and the beehives to get there. The meadows are full of wonderful flowers. At the side of the road we also spotted early alpine Strawberries - smultron. On the way back to the ferry we stopped by the church - another lovely building with a separate bell tower. Just had time to buy some Holman honey from the shop. This is really good, worth the visit for this alone. The weather was warm and the we had sunny blue skies. I think this helped make it such a magic experience. We would go for a bit longer next time - perhaps staying a night or two!
