Things to do in Toronto, Canada: The Best Sights & Landmarks

December 17, 2021 Darleen Reid

We've heard Toronto described as "New York City run by the Swiss," and it's true—you can find world-class theater, shopping and restaurants here, but the sidewalks are clean and the people are friendly. The best place to start is literally at the top—the CN Tower, the tallest freestanding structure in the Western Hemisphere.

Love all the shops along Queen St W. Once you get past Spadina, it becomes the fashion district. You’ll come across Grafitti Alley a block south and some increíble one of a kind finds in these shops. Great spots to have a quick bite or elegant meal. One of the most lovely parts of the city.

Went to the Toronto FC vs. Minnesota United game. This was our first professional soccer game (we were visiting from MA.) The stadium is great and the fans were awesome. Getting into the stadium is a bit slow. Only complaint is that the 200 level seats didn't have cup holders.

The Bentway

Let me begin by giving you a rough location. In between Bathurst St & Fort York/CNE. About 1 block south of Front St & 1 block north of the Lakeshore. Very accessible by TTC as well a P parking within a few feet away. My girls aged 12 & 13 went skating at the Bentway on a Sunday in January 2019. They really enjoyed a skate in the early afternoon with the brisk cold air whipping through the condos & off of Lake Ontario. We have our own skates so it was a quick change of footwear & off they went. I saw that they have a couple warming stations with washrooms available as well. They also have a bit of liquor along with coffee & hot chocolate. The music is really nice to hear in the background. Very good use of space. Thanks Toronto.
