Things to do in Toronto, Canada: The Best Gay Clubs & Bars

April 2, 2022 Hector Krause

We've heard Toronto described as "New York City run by the Swiss," and it's true—you can find world-class theater, shopping and restaurants here, but the sidewalks are clean and the people are friendly. The best place to start is literally at the top—the CN Tower, the tallest freestanding structure in the Western Hemisphere.

El Convento Rico

The Latin beat beckons one and all -- straight, gay, and otherwise -- to this lively club. If you don't know how to samba, you can pick up the basics at the Friday- and Sunday-night dance lessons, but if you don't learn, no one on the jam-packed dance floor will notice. There's a substantial hetero contingent that comes out just to watch the fabulous drag queens -- and don't be surprised if you encounter a bachelorette party in progress.

5. Foxy's and Cayotes

547 Parliament St, Toronto, Ontario M4X 1P7 Canada +1 416-929-1695

A very popular lesbian bar. It's in the same space that the longtime favorite Pope Joan was in, but Foxy's is under new management and its ambience is different. Think less cozy, more sexy. The main floor has the martini bar; upstairs is the main dance floor as well as a pool table and games area.
