Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke

The restored steam train is a great experience. it starts from Realp and ends in Oberwald (or vice-versa). there is a parking place in Realp nearby, it costs 5 CHF for the whole day. Before the train ride a small cafe is set up to serve coffee and croissants. the train is wonderfully restored and everyone is nice and helpful. if you ordered the ticket online you can exchange it for an old train ticket at the cashier in Realp before the ride. there is also a small shop in which you can buy some souvenirs. During the ride you are allowed to stay outside as well. there is on half the way a bit longer stop with toilet and food. In Oberwald you have a bit more than one hour and then you can take the train back (or use the normal train or the post bus). The ride is not cheap but worthwhile.

Matterhorn Glacier Paradise

What does an Alpine paradise look like? Probably quite like Matterhorn glacier paradise. The peak with Europe’s highest mountain station soars 3'883 metres above sea level. The peak lift takes you up to the 360º viewing platform. The view from there is like paradise. You can see an incredible 38 four-thousand-metre peaks and 14 glaciers. And a must-see in Zermatt’s glacier paradise: a real glacier palace. Up above, there is a cinema lounge, fine cuisine, superb ski slopes and a little lower, on Trockener Steg or Schwarzsee, hiking and biking trails. And on top of that many unforgettable experiences the whole year round ...

The day that we spent at The Matterhorn Glacier paradise (and Gornergrat with our Peak to Peak pass) was prob our best in Switzerland. The views atop this mountain paradise were out of this world...the cable cars to get up there?!?! Magnificent... We loved the viewing stations, tunnel through the glacier with ice sculptures and restaurant up there. The movie area with short films about the area was also really neat, we watched them all. Some people might think this area is just for skiers, but it is not. We rode up in gondolas full of skiers, but we rode down alone and really enjoyed the views. Take your time and do the Peak to Peak ticket bundle if you can. We saved 50% because we had a Swiss Travel Pass. Getting up to the top is not cheap, but it is WORTH IT.

Rothorn

The best view of the Matterhorn The Rothorn is easily reached from Sunnegga in just 15 minutes. From here, you can see the Matterhorn from its most photogenic side. An added attraction is that you see all 38 four-thousandmetre peaks that surround Zermatt. We recommend: It is worth to get up early and enjoy the magnificent view at sunrise! A special item of interest up here is the themed hiking trail “Peak Collection” around the restaurant Rothorn. This special outdoor exhibition of 18 sculptures will connect you on an artistic level with the Alpine world of Zermatt and its many tales. Zermatt’s most beautiful mountain lake The Stellisee lake at 2,537 metres (8,323 ft) is the most-photographed lake in Zermatt. For sure, you have already marvelled yourself at a photo of the Stellisee, capturing the fascinating reflection of the Matterhorn. From Blauherd, you can reach the idyllic Stellisee in about 20 minutes. The famous flower trail also starts at Blauherd. This unique hike offers an unparalleled diversity of flowering plants. Your excursion can be ideally combined with a break at Stellisee lake or the sunrise ride.

Nice Tour to Rothorn for a great Paraglide and Hiking experience. From Rothorn you have a great view and amazing Panorama, a sweet coffee on 3200 meters and a good hike.
