South West Deer Rescue

Reviewed By K985UTpaulap - St Austell, United Kingdom

We went for My husbands birthday and to be honest were not expecting too much but were blown away by the size of the place, the amount of deer, the knowledge and friendliness of the guys and how tame and gentle the deer were. Would highly recommend, we were on our guided tour for around 2.5 hours. Definitely take wellies, waterproofs if wet and plenty of carrots and digestive biscuits for the lovely deer. We would love to go back again some day, maybe to their open day on the 1st weekend of July.

Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Reviewed By Stanley5899 - Taunton, United Kingdom

There's a quiet beauty, a calm and gentle peace about these hills. We often walk from Lydeard Gate, or Crowcombe Gate a bit further North. Easy walking among beautiful combes and hills, loads of tracks and paths to follow, and never more than a few other humans in view. We must have clocked up several hundred miles all told - but we never tire of this wonderful landscape.

Crook Peak

Lots of options for circular walks, amazing views from the peak and well defined paths. Always a good idea to have an OS rather than rely on following logic! Wild ponies and roaming sheep so keep dogs close. Pubs at Cross and Axbridge for sustenance or get a picnic from the co-op in Ax and eat it up there with the view (taking rubbish home to keep it pristine up there)

Ham Wall Nature Reserve

Reviewed By DexterOGrady - Inverness, United Kingdom

Excellent reserve. Good sightings of march harriers and great egrets. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Starling murmuration was awesome. Note: £3 payment for car parking on card NOT phone or coins - suits me.
