Waterfront Trail

We enjoyed a great walk along this trail today, right beside the lake. It was busy, so we kept the dog on his leash.

Cute neighborhood by the water with small shops. A waterfront walkway and lakefront beach. Great photo opportunities with the Nuclear Power Plant as a background.

Petticoat Creek Conservation Park

Enjoy the outdoors at Petticoat Creek Conservation Park, with inviting pools and a splash area to cool off, picnic sites to gather with friends and family, and the Waterfront Trail to experience Lake Ontario.

I have lived beside this park since its origin back in the 1970's. There was an old stone mansion close to the bridge over Petticoat Creek that the original homesteaders lived in; it had a fireplace upstairs in the bedroom( before central heating). There was an old wood bridge over the creek off of White's Road. The only access from the east side of the creek along the lake was from property owned by Fairport Beach Ratepayers Association. The property was sold to the Metropolitan Toronto Regional Conservation Authority in 1998. That allowed a bridge to be built across the gorge, joining the waterfront trail which extends across the Rouge River and into Toronto. The walk-in swimming pool was an amazing place to spend time with our children on a hot summer day, as we could walk there from home. It has awesome views from the cliffs overlooking Lake Ontario.

The new VIP place is awesome. Great seats, food and drinks as you enter. Very comfortable and now Pickering has the latest and greatest movie house in the GTA.
