Zhonghua Gate (Zhonghuamen Castle)

Reviewed By echode - Port Gamble, United States

We came on a clear, winter night and had the entire structure to ourselves. Truly mind-blowing the details of the triplicate walls, the gates, the views of the city from atop that seemed to stretch forever, and just the sheer size of it all! I could see this as a very usable venue. This made us decide to skip the Great Wall once we got to Beijing, and we have no regrets.

Meiling Palace

Reviewed By Synthomer - Shanghai, China

Probably the most beautiful house I have so far visited in China, home of Song Mei Ling, Chiang Kai Shek's wife and an important figure of the 20th century. Most of the text is in Chinese but I think they might offer English audio guides at the gatehouse but, if not, still worth a visit. The tearoom in the dining hall looked nice. The setting in the necklace of plane trees is remarkable. Make sure also to visit the nearby Ming tombs and Sun Yat Sen's mausoleum. The Zhongshan scenic area is easily accessible from line 2 (Muxuyuan or Xiamafang) and well signposted. The fit and healthy can visit all three sites on foot in 5-6 hourse (the mausoleum is a long climb upstairs). RMB 100 covers all three but you have to pre-register on the Internet to visit mausoleum (hotel can help you). A must see if you are in Nanjing

Sun Yat-sen Memorial of Nanjing

Reviewed By farezaboo - Singapore, Singapore

Visited this on a weekday and there were still throngs of people. There are steps to be climbed and it's a meaningful place for the Chinese so it would be good to know a bit of history about the place and also Sun Yat Sen before visiting. One of the must-dos in Nanjing.
