Things to do in Ljubljana, Upper Carniola Region: The Best Self-Guided Tours & Rentals

June 2, 2021 Viva Honore

Slovenia, wedged between Austria and Italy, has always been proud of its unique heritage. The capital, Ljubljana, is a perfect example of this blend of German, Mediterranean, and Slovenian culture. The old town is a blend of Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau buildings, watched over by a medieval castle. Cut through the gardens of Tivoli Park to the National Museum of Contemporary History for a history of modern Slovenia, featuring crumbled statues of Stalin and a recreation of a WWI trench.

We did the Istria to the Adriatic tour in October and it was incredible! We chose the self-guided option, and were thrilled with the tour. Everything exceeded our expectations, the accomodations, the food, the GPS guidance, the company, etc. etc.. We loved every minute of the tour, and will 100% book with them again in the future.

A day trip from our cruise with Celebrity Cruises. The trip was from Koper a short 90 mins away. The capital was very interesting to go round with our informative guide. The samples of wine and salted chocolate went down a treat. Will have to come back again in the future.
