Quorn & Woodhouse Railway Station

We were staying across the road from the great central steam railway cafe. We decided to have breakfast in the week after relaxing of lockdown rules. This is a fab historic place. The tea room is well laid oit, spacious inside and out, and has adapted very well to the new safety, distancing, sanitiser procedures. Still relaxed friendly and social with good food. As an extra precaution they take addresses and contact details of customers, and were checking that no-one was coming from Leicester which is currently in lockdown. We were visiting family and will definately come again.

Just back from a 3 day trip to Exmouth, which included a 6 mile coastal walk from Sidmouth to Budleigh Salterton and half a day searching for fossils at Charmouth. 2 guides were with us to make sure we took correct route etc... and supplied lots of useful info. The first hill we climbed was tough but no rush or pressure put on anyone , as we had plenty of time, and we all completed an absolutely stunning walk with some great views of the red coloured cliffs. The same 2 guides took us out looking for fossils this included an hour chat while slurping a coffee, to talk about and see examples of, what we would be looking to find, this was a fun session and obviously worked as I found an ammonite and my partner an urchin ( that's a sea urchin , not a child from Victorian times ! ) Vince, our driver was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for him , the hotel accomadation and food was really good, so this trip , my first with Mr Woods was a real success, so good we will be going on another trip in July.

We went on the Santa deluxe train on the 23rd December with our 5 children (one being 19!) and we all had a fantastic time. It was very well organised and our food hamper was full of treats we all enjoyed including wine, fruit shoots, mince pies, crisps, nuts, satsumas-plenty for everyone! there was even a sleigh made of various chocolates and cake. Santa was very friendly and the Childrens gifts were good too. The train journey was the right length, it wasn’t too long so the children didn’t get bored. All in all we had a brilliant time and was a great start to our Christmas celebrations!

we were staying the weekend at Sketchley Grange and needed taxis twice a day to join friends on a narrowboat. A1 taxi drivers were always on time, very professional and friendly despite working in difficult circumstances that is quite obviously seriously affecting their income. Respect guys and thank you!
