The Suzhou Museum is a blend between modern design and the past history of Suzhou. The building itself is Instagram/facebook photo worthy. The Museum is not that big but is worth your 1-2 hours.

This was my second visit. This unique site covers many dynasties and captures many recent historical events of the 20th century - post-Ching dynasty. It has many change of hands among Manchurian, different Chinese political parties and Japanese during their occupation.

Suzhou Silk Museum

Reviewed By BillPNo1 - Friendswood, United States

My Wife and I visited the Suzhou Silk Culture Expo Museum along with our tour group when we were in Suzhou last month. We were treated to an excellent demonstration of all phases of the silk growing, processing, and manufacturing processes. We had hands-on experience with the raw silk right from the silkworm's boll and a view of historic and modern looms and weaving machines. What a learning experience! - and so very interesting. Of course, our tour ended in the display and sales room of silk bedding before we were able to explore the general sales floor of silk apparel. It was a very good experience and almost everyone in the group made purchases of the fine material - even if they had not originally planned to do so. MNany of the group made extensive purchases. Very interesting!
