Edgar Zombrano. is a thief. DO NOT BOOK WITH FIRST CLASS HUARAZ!!!!!. After I paid I never heard back from Edgar Zombrano or anyone at First class Huaraz. I called First Huaraz and Edgar Zombrano multiple times but there was no answer. I sent emails and text messages and still no reply. I decided to call my credit card company so I can get a refund. But first class Huaraz told them that it was a legit purchase because I voluntarily gave them my credit card information. and that they booked a hotel and bus tickets for me. when I called the hotel, and the bus company had nothing under my name. Also, I agreed with Edgar Zombrano on a different hotel than the awful hotel he claims he booked for me. DO NOT GIVE THIS PEOPLE any of your personal information. if you want to go to Huaraz, book everything on your own and find a tour guide once you get there. This is what I will do. so sad there are these horrible people in this world.

It is possible to trek into the site, but for most people the train is the option. The trip is about an hour and one half and is wonderful. There is so much to see on the trip that you would like the train tp go slower! For most of the ride, the river will be in clear view, but the mountain views are really spectacular.

I didn't actually hike with Colonia Adventures, but met the owners as I was staying at their hostel. Maruja and Gilf are both absolutely lovely, and I really appreciated that Gilf shared so much information about the area and trails despite the fact I arrived booked for a trek with another company. Gilf gave me great advice about the weather, (he had just returned from a trip and warned it would be cold and wet), gave me advice on managing being unwell (I had a cold the day before starting out on the trek), and last-minute let me rent a daypack when I realized the one I brought was too small. I also appreciated hearing about how they manage safety while trekking in the area - there are quite a few local companies that have absolutely no plan to tackle it if something goes wrong or someone needs evacuation in the middle of the trek - Colonia seems to take that very seriously. While I haven't actually trekked with Colonia yet, I will absolutely reach out to them the next time I am in Huaraz. (And would highly recommend their hostel as a place to stay. It was lovely!)

My friends and I did the two-day tours of the Paron lagoon and pastoruri glacier and hired the services of this agency, which were super professionals. From the guides (Pol and Carlos) who attended us very well and helped us a lot with the professional explanations and knowledge of the place. Everything was on time and according to how we hired him. 100% recommended.
