Iconic trip from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island and back, 2.6 HKD, much more fun than the Metro, great view both ways, remember to take the elevated walkway on Hong Kong Island side for the best photo opportunities.

Thankfully we had read up on the MTR before visiting and bought a card preloaded with $150 at the airport when we landed - total price $200 as they take a deposit for the card which is refundable when you leave together with the balance. The trains run frequently and google helpfully tells you the most efficient route from A to B so with journeys costing $6 or $10 a time it is a really quick and easy way to explore different parts of Hong Kong. The only challenge we faced was trying to select the correct exit - similar to the London Underground there are numerous exits and sometimes they’re not very well signposted

A comfortable return trip to Mui Wo from Central on the ordinary (slow) ferry. We travelled deluxe class, which offers airconditioned comfort away from the crowds. Well worth the extra few dollars to upgrade the seats from those downstairs.
