Beautiful views at top. Great value and great fun for all ages. Go at your own pace option. Lasts a while and plenty of speed twists and turns. Arrive early as it is not a quick loading speed. Would return

As you approach Externsteine you are immediately taken with the scale of the rocks, and then you are additionally blown away by the incredible history of the area. Rock carvings amongst the oldest in Germany, twisty steps up to impressive panoramic views over the forest and lake, and carved chapels and bridges complete the experience.

Biosphere Potsdam

SUMMER FOR 365 DAYS A YEAR In the center of Potsdam is a place with a holiday-atmosphere 365 days a year – the Biosphere Potsdam. The jungle landscape of the Biosphere with over 20.000 beautiful plants, many exotic animals and an hourly thunderstorm with thunder and lightning takes you to a world far away. Your journey begins at the waterfall and continues on intertwined paths to the butterfly house and to the high-trail up in the treetops.

My husband and I super love all things nature related so I was really interested when I came across the reviews for the Biosphere on TripAdvisor and we thought it was worth a little train journey to Potsdam. It was a really grim and rainy day so the perfect weather to be doing something inside, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. You wander round the Biosphere, encountering informative interactive displays, different animals and an aquarium section- it's well laid out and definitely enough to keep you occupied for a few hours. Our favourites were the little tamarin monkeys, super cute and engaging! We also stopped for some lunch at the end of the trail in the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, normally it's a bit pants in these kind of attraction restaurants, but my husband's flammkuchen and my currywurst were really tasty and resonably priced.

Fraueninsel

Reviewed By bruceh879 - Antalya, Turkey

Die Fraueninsel is a small island and it only takes approximately 20 minutes to circumnavigate with no stops. In contrast to the other islands in the Chiemsee, this island is densely populated with more than 50 houses and their inhabitants. The most unique feature on the island is the famous Benedictine monastery Frauenwörth housing Benedictine nuns and right next to a 1,200-year-old cathedral. The monastery Frauenwörth is the oldest nunnery in Germany. The first known abbess was the Blessed Irmengard (died 866) she was buried in the cathedral. Her burial site is still a place of pilgrimage today and the area remains a popular wedding destination. Also, do not miss the small monastery cemetery where some famous artists and other personages are buried.
