We had an amazing experience. Hosts were friendly and made us laugh, wine was good and I loved the variety/change of the Portuguese wines mixed in! They do an extensive wine and olive tasting and the olives with a bite are to die for. We bought a bunch of each and will go back. Highly recommend a stop if you are anywhere close by to this lovely family run place!

They also have a tempting range of local olives, sauces, preserves and dried fruit products Added bonus - they keep Peter Bayly port too, another favorite. Since our last visit a few years ago, they have added a Bistro. We had a great cheese platter accompanied by some of their wine and grape juice for the driver. Always well worth a visit

Newstead Wines Restaurant

The same care bestowed on the vineyards is given to Newstead’s culinary offering. Lunches served on the veranda feature seasonal produce, most of it grown on the farm. Today, a salad of fennel, radish and figs, shaved Parma ham and Parmesan, topped with a dressing made with honey produced in the next-door lavender field, is star of the show. Tomorrow it may be shoulder of pork slow-roasted with chilly and ginger and served with spring onion pancakes or slow roasted wood fired spicy chicken. Home-grown macadamias and apples from the Newstead orchard are used in an assortment of bakes and the vegetable garden’s fragrant tomatoes shine on artisanal wood fired pizzas. Delicious desserts. Limited quantities of artisan food is prepared daily. Enjoy winning wines & bubbles & infused craft cocktails in the vineyard Bubble&gin bar.

Best wine, especially the sweet dessert wines! Sit and have roosterkoek if you can. I would also recommend the jams, karoobossie salt, and highly recommend getting some Moskonfyt.. If you want to sleep over on the farm Domein Doornkraal, I would recommend staying at "Kerneelia". A lovely isolated and off the grid cottage.

Francois de Jager was our wine tasting host, with his in depth knowledge of the farm, it's history, the wines that are produced there and great hosting skills he really made it an unforgettable experience. We also enjoyed the rest of the activities available on the farm and can definately recommed a visit to ReedValley when visiting Mossel Bay and surroundings
