Things to do in Franschhoek, Western Cape: The Best Sightseeing Tours

November 3, 2021 Hana Mouser

The village of Franschhoek (French Corner), tucked into the Cape Winelands of South Africa, is known as the country's food and wine capital. Galleries and antique shops fill the tree-lined streets, and vineyards established more than 300 years ago cascade over the hills just outside town. Local activities range from wine-tasting tours to trout fishing and hiking. The Huguenot Memorial Museum honors the town's early settlers, who fled religious persecution in France.

It was absolutely unforgettable experience. The drive was slow enough, so we had time to see and enjoy the surrounding and we stopped at the most picturesque sites. We had lunch at beautiful restaurant and was watching penguins while eating. On the way back we stopped at botanical gardens and had time to walk around (I would like to go there again) and we fall in love with Shona sculptures so much that we even purchased one when we came back to US. We’ve been great admires of Shona sculptures since that time. Ivan told us many stories and a lot of information about the land. We enjoyed his company so much that we still maintain contact. His driving is also awesome, you can rarely experience such smooth and comfortable ride. We with we are able to come again. It is just so far.

Angelo took me and my husband on a private Cape Town day tour. It was such an amazing trip and we fell in love with South Africa instantly. Angelo was very professional and was just so pleasant and chill throughout our tour. He was very knowledgeable and we were so grateful to have him as our guide. Even though we were on a time constraint (we only had one full day in Cape Town), Angelo was still able to show us a bit of everything, fully utilizing his expertise of the area. This tour is so worth it, and we will definitely be heading back and asking for Angelo again!

Given the current COVID-19 concerns, a private tour was just what my partner and I needed. We had an absolutely amazing time with our tour guide Armando! He was incredibly knowledgable about the sites we visited on our tour as well as entertaining, making for an all around great day touring the cape. Our pick up was timely as well. Armando also allowed for reasonable breaks in between tour sites so we can really enjoy the spots we visited. Anyone interested in a comfortable and fun tour should certainly book with these guys they are great!

With 4 total days in Cape Town we wanted to truly maximize our days there. By booking the Private Cape Peninsula Tour was the best use of our time. With Colin we went all over, learning about history of the areas, different sites and really got to see everything we wanted to. He also gave great tips of other things to see, do and eat in Cape Town. There were places we hadn't considered on our list that we absolutely loved which we would have missed with Colin. Working with Colin allowed us to feel like we seeing Cape Town without feeling overwhelmed with planning or paying a ton of money for Ubers or Taxis. When we go back we can't wait to do a wine tour with Colin!
