The 'Schoolhouse for Art' is in essence a facility for the study and exploration of arts and crafts. Located in 'the old schoolhouse' in the heart of Enniskerry village it is an exhibition space and a meeting place where images and ideas mingle. It caters for all ages and all abilities. Group activities can be arranged, on going classes & weekend workshops are available in watercolour, pastel, oil, woodcarving, stained-glass, sculpting and more.
Yanny is an excellent teacher who knows her subject and materials backwards and also has the patience to be a good hardworking teacher giving everyone individual feedback and attention as required in a relaxed atmosphere. The whole class were delighted with their art weekend and outcome.

The residence of the Olde Shillelagh Stick Maker has several en-suite B&B rooms which are very clean and tidy. The owner, Kath, provided excellent, hearty breakfasts of bacon, eggs, sausage and all the trimmings! This is an excellent place to stay for a few days as the village itself has an intriguing history connected to the nearby Coollattin Estate and the Irish Famine. The Coullattin Estate is now home to the Golf Club, but visitors are allowed access and can see the old house from the outside, as well as the extensive gardens. In its day, the estate is said to have covered 90,000 acres, and was one of the largest and best known Irish estates. Sir William Fitzwilliam served as Lord Deputy of Ireland from 1571 to 1575 and from 1588 to 1594. You can visit the Stick Maker's shop which adjoins the B&B. Here you can learn about 'Stick Making' or 'Shillelagh's' as they are called. They are also available to purchase from the small shop. Great place as a base for walking, cycling, leisure driving etc. Several good pubs in the village serving cooked food etc.
