Woodenbridge Hotel & Lodge

Situated in the vale of Avoca, one of Ireland’s most beautiful locations, and established in 1608, Woodenbridge Hotel is the oldest hotel in Ireland and one of the few remaining family-run hotels. The hotel itself overlooks the vale of Avoca and the amazing Woodenbridge Golf Club, while Woodenbridge lodge is adjacent to the main hotel and is surrounded by peaceful gardens on the banks of the Aughrim River. All of the rooms are en-suite and with complimentary wireless access. Our newly renovated Goldmines Bistro serves delicious bar food every day from 12.30 to 9pm. Our latest addition is the Smokehouse Restaurant at Woodenbridge Lodge. On the banks of the River Aughrim, the Smokehouse promises to be the venue of the summer, with 180sqm of sheltered outdoor seating! Using our very own smokehouse rig and a variety of garden grown herbs, the Smokehouse offers a unique collection of smoked meats, seafood and vegetarian options. You can kick back and relax under a vast, fully-floored stretch tent that shades and shelters from the Irish weather. The Smokehouse is the ideal location to catch-up with friends and family! We're sure the Smokehouse will continue the 400 year tradition of timeless hospitality that is long associated with the Woodenbridge Hotel!

We had booked for a local wedding. Our plane was delayed and I called to advise the hotel and asked for some sandwiches to be set aside for us we had not eaten since the morning.we were told it was not possible and they didn’t do room service. The hotel is very isolated and thus we had not alternative but to go hungry. Not a good start.

Spa Day

Reviewed By BrookeMorales

I can only comment on a full day in the Spa, not an overnight stay. Beautifully located in the Powerscourt Estate, the hotel enjoys a tranquil position. Walk through the grand entrance to the spa, located downstairs. Elegant and stylish with a Swarovski swimming pool, reception area and restaurant on one level and treatment rooms, relaxation room and spa on the upper level. Staff here is friendly and polite and the treatments we chose were lovely. Massages, neck, head, legs and feet. Lunch was part of the package. Tasty and fresh, soup and salad and an assortment of sandwiches and pastries afterwards. Nearly too much food. My only critique is that the downstairs jacuzzi could be a tad warmer and the upstairs whirlpool in the ladies section a lot warmer. This one was cold!! Not what you want in a spa! You will find plenty of towls in the change rooms, lockers and bathrobes plus slippers are provided. You will also have access to showers, hairdryer etc.. Relaxing !

Why Serve the food burnt when it should be binned

Reviewed By doyleulaca

16.50 Euro for burnt fish and frozen chips is a disgrace. This should never have left the kitchen. Customers should not be put in a situation to complain as there is a fear of retaliation by the kitchen staff if they do complain. Its this kind of service that customers really should be paying attention to and taking their business elsewhere even if staying in the hotel, try to eat somewhere else.

Well staff were lovely but need to put a bit more in up to date things like lifts and room toilets and restaurants would have to come down on price and diffently have a better selection of food down stairs and up stairs as people don't eat all that stuff you put on the plates as we requested on Monday 6th June 2022 we persuasively said we did want all the trims. But still on plate not good enough but in prove you menus oh and breakfast was excellent as my self and husband didn't eat loads but a lovely spread kind regards Michelle

This is my second visit to Brooklodge. I can not say enough about this hotel and the staff that run it. I booked a junior suite as it was a special occasion, however I didn’t love the room we were given. I asked to change but was told no room was available. However, not long after we were upgraded to a suite free of charge. Exceptional. Dinner in the Italian was second to none. The spa and pool area are stunning. We walked the grounds, the outdoor area is lit up with fairy lights at night, they also have a gorgeous outdoor fire with seating. Nothing is a problem to staff, they are friendly, helpful and extremely professional. Truly making the experience everything I had hoped it would be!

Disappointing

Reviewed By Catherine S

Arrived at the Parkview Hotel for a one night stay - first impressions; lovely area, lots of parking, staff friendly at reception, good direction and instruction. Our room was clean, spacious and had a massive (and very comfy) bed - amazing!! Although, generally the room was in need of minor repairs - signs of general wear and tear present i.e scuffs/scratches to furniture. We had dinner in the bar restaurant - nicely decorated area. We ordered food swiftly.. however after approx 45-50 minute wait and no sign of food arriving (and people receiving food who arrived after us) we decided to ask and find out what the hold up was... it turned out our order hadn't been sent through to the kitchen. The young waiter who we raised this with was brilliant - very apologetic and ensured we received our order quickly. Generally after this, I found the rest of the staff to be over-bearing. Repeatedly looking over and checking if we were ok - which made the experience uncomfortable. The food was mediocre, but cocktails very good - especially the whiskey sour. Due to our delay with food, the price of starter and cocktails was deducted from our final bill - which was nice. After a good nights sleep and a lovely breakfast the following morning we had a shower.... well a trickle of water we could barely stand under as it was scolding hot. All in, an ok experience. I would recommend trying elsewhere while in the area.

Beautiful hotel & surroundings

Reviewed By suejL8489EU

We stayed for 3 days for a family wedding and were delighted with the hotel. It is very modern and clean and our room was spacious and very comfortable. The surroundings are beautiful with lovely walks and views of the golf course and the lake. Shout out to the friendly staff in the golf shop who were happy to help us out with sessions on the driving range and putting green. The wedding itself was wonderful - beautifully decorated rooms and amazing food at the formal dinner, all very well organised. We also had a bbq on the patio the next day. If you're considering Tulfarris as a wedding venue, I'd thoroughly recommend it - spot on in every way.
