If visiting Miyajima Island when in Hiroshima, the ropeway is a must do! We found it on a brochure in the arrival dock of Miyajima and it was well worth it. There is a short walk to a shuttle bus that will take you to the ropeway station, but the walk to the ropeway station is not bad. Provided it's a clear day, the views are beautiful from ropeway and the viewing platforms. The ropeway is in two parts or there is a mountain hike trail available. We got a round trip ticket for the ropeway and the gorgeous views from all sides at the top were well worth it.

We came to Okayama for the day and combined it with a visit to Kurashiki which I highly recommend. While trying to visit Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden, we took the tram from the Okayama Train Station to ease up on all the walking. One of the cars we got in was named Tama, a cat, and it was super cute. Even the inside was decorated with her likeness. The ride costs 100 yen per person and it is a cheap and easy way to move around Okayama. And who knows, you might end up on a super cute tram.

Nothing negative here, it's a ropeway that does exactly as expected. It gets you from the bottom of the hill to the top near the castle. I've been up to the castle several times, I enjoy the hike but this time I wanted to try the ropeway. It was cheap and convenient. You can order tickets through the vending machine at the bottom. You can purchase one way tickets, roundtrip, or a combined ticket that includes the bridge, castle, and ropeway. The ropeway goes every 15 minutes and only takes a few minutes to get to the top. Once at the top, there is still a short walk to the castle. The gondola is spacious with large windows. If you are short on time or like me, just not in the mood for a hike, take the ropeway. It is easy and quick.
