I phoned first and left a message on the answer phone when no-one answered. We were visiting the area soon and I wanted some information regarding things to do in the area. A week later a map and some brochures arrived in the post, mostly walks and country parks locally but useful. Many thanks. When we visited Macclesfield, we called in for directions to a particular mill shop and a restaurant. It was easy to find, in the market place. The lady was very helpful.

Knutsford Heritage Centre

Knutsford Heritage Centre is the best way to discover Knutsford and Elizabeth Gaskell’s Cranford. Changing exhibitions tell the story of Knutsford and its people. Official Walking Tours of Knutsford run every Friday afternoon (at 2pm from May-October. The Centre also houses the famous Knutsford Tapestry, measuring 52 metres it took 4 years to complete and involved 3,000 people in the stitching. It captures the architecture and every day life of Knutsford in the year 2000.

As well as the astonishing tapestry, which the lady volunteers told us all about, there is a touching memorial to local soldiers killed in WW1 and a pretty courtyard garden kept up by one of the gardeners from Dunham Massey. If you want to find out a lot about Knutsford, this is for you. It is a small place, not suitable for very large groups.

Absolutely love this place! Despite the awful year we have all had Blakemere did Halloween fabulously! We stayed in the touring area for what was originally a 4 night stay but we managed to get an extra night. It was fab, the staff in every area, should it be the grounds people, the shop keepers, the staff in the Village Restaurant to the reception staff, are all wonderful. There was a small funfair for the little ones, which was great. Unfortunately we weren't able to get tickets for the winter woodland but i shall be on the ball for tickets next year! From what we could see it looked beautiful!
