For the life of me I cannot understand any of the poor comments on here such as it's on a busy road and that you have to drag your suitcase from the car park. Do your research beforehand rather than not do so and then try and blame the hotel! My wife and I absolutely love Indigo hotels and this one is simply the best we have stayed in. Value for money is absolutely brilliant. Fantastic decor, fantastic staff, fantastic service and a sublime breakfast. Chester is a fantastic city and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and if we ever find ourselves back in Chester we will make a beeline for this hotel. Thank you to all the staff and although I understand you have to be diplomatic don't take any notice of the negative remarks. You are a credit to your industry, thank you for making our stay such an enjoyable one.

Lovely hotel

Hotel is situated about 1/2 a mile from the town centre just opposite the railway station. Lovely and clean with friendly staff. Room was great (paid for an upgrade). Bathroom was new, room was clean however the bed was very uncomfortable (lumpy mattress) so didn’t sleep that well. However hotel is good and breakfast had a huge choice.

Rude & Ignorant Bar Tender

Reviewed By Jacebow

My wife & I chose the Grosvenor Chester to celebrate a momentous occasion in our life We booked the Brassiere on Monday 6th June 8pm We arrived early and the bar tender asked if we would like to sit at the cocktail bar while we wait to be seated, as we chose our cocktails my wife developed a cough and asked for a glass of water ,the bar tender stood talking to a waitress with said glass of water in his hands totally ignoring us, eventually the water was given with an abrupt what drinks would you like ,we ordered 2 Pina Colada’s, he then stood wiggling his backside showing off like a bad Tom Cruise trying to impress the waitress again, I asked for the drinks to be brought to our table as he was starting to become a complete pain with his cocky attitude, all we wanted was a warm welcome a quick cocktail and a lovely meal to celebrate our personal achievement! We sat at our table and thought the edge had been taken off our evening , we drank up paid for the cocktails and told the waitress we wouldn’t be staying for food , What a complete shame , there didn’t seem anyone with any authority in the restaurant to speak with We walked slightly down the road to a beautiful restaurant called Artisan the food was superb and a great menu choice , thankfully they rescued our night and not to mention the attentive well mannered staff

230+ person wedding - delivered to perfection

Reviewed By Yoel J

We got married at The Mere in early June and everything the hotel did to help with the day was just fantastic from start to finish. There were over 230 people at the wedding, with over half the guests staying at the hotel for multiple days (many with specific logistical or religious requirements) - but nothing seemed to phase the team at The Mere. Special mention to Katie in events who helped ensure no detail was left unturned for our big day. Simon and Adam in operations both extremely professional and made sure everything ran swimmingly. Not to forget the amazing staff at the front desk (particularly Lauren and Phil), the club lounge and the spa - all who went out their way to accommodate our wedding party. Aside from the wedding, the rooms are all spacious, modern and clean, a good breakfast and the spa is lovely. If only we could do it all again!

Wedding of the year

We got married at the Park royal on Friday 27th May... what can i say but THANK YOU! We had the best day ever. From planning and up to date emails and info from Beccie (wedding coordinator) to help and compassion from Sally too. Big thanks to Steve who kept the day running as smoothly as we allowed ;-) Would 100% recommend the hotel rooms are excellent value for money, the spa is lovely and relaxing and the gym and leisure facilities are lovely. Nothing was too big or small for the team to do for us even allowing me to add on to the gym class on the wedding morning which i loved! Your staff truly are a credit to your business and made everyone feel welcome. The food was amazing for our out door BBQ just wish i could have taken it home it was so good. Breakfast next day was on point and just what everyone needed and thank you for arranging an area for all the wedding guests to sit together too. We will be back again for some spa days and to enjoy the hotels atmosphere and reminisce about our special day. Thanks again. Mr & Mrs O'Neill

Unforgettable bad experience

Reviewed By ahmedsR2610IM

We have booked the Classic Double Room with a garden view for three nights. Arrived at the hotel and was asked to pay the full balance on checking in which was rather peculiar and not customary , then our fun stated : 1-The room was so dark and you need ti switch the lights all day 2-The room decoration and furniture were old fashioned and not reflecting any harmony or creating a welcoming atmosphere 3-There is a serious health and safety issue in the room as the bed was on an elevated floor surface from the rest of the room with a step , so one can imagine what will happen if you need to go to the toilet during the night and end up twisting or breaking your ankle ? Bizarre to say the least 4-The room had no walk-in shower and the night of the bath side board was also a health and safety hazard 5-We managed to change the room another double room with a walk-in shower, however , the second room was very small with extreme limited space for two people to move around at the sane time. Very limited strange space and the so called wardrobe was pathetic and squeezed in a tight corner 6-The decoration and the colour scheme in the second room was haphazard and non inviting 7-The room was unbearably hit and stuffy and we needed to keep the windows open all the time bedside using the fan as well 8-Foisty like sweaty feet smell in the bathroom which was lingering during our stay and we needed to keep spraying perfume as it was very unpleasant and I felt rather nauseas because of that smell 9-The breakfast was well below any accepted standard of this 4 Star Hotel . Cold and non inviting food , the dishes of the fruit salad looked disgusting and even the cup of tea had the smell of egg which I had to leave 10-Very overpriced for what they offer 11-The only good and positive thing during our stay was the presence of two beautiful and well behaved dogs which made us at least enjoy something in this place This is not a 4 Star Hotel and we are frequent travellers and stayed in several hotels which were way above the Alderley Edge. This should be only 1 Star Hotel and is in a bad need for updating both the environment and the services offered Most certainly we will not be staying here again and we wouldn’t recommend it
