We were very happy that we were able to do a tour to the plitvice lakes in corona times. The company offered us a private tour (for a slightly higher price), and the driver, Darko, picked us up at our hotel. Darko is a wonderful guide, thanks to his knowledge about the country, which extends to culture, history and even philosophy. We enjoyed interesting conversations with him in the car. When we had seen the plitvice park, we only had to call him and he picked us up again within 5 minutes!

This was wonderful! My husband and I were lucky enough to have beautiful weather for our hike. Petra picked us up and drove us to the start of the public trail. Along the drive, she shared a lot of local history and suggestions for our time in Zagreb. Petra is a Zagreb local, and very knowledgeable about the city and many different trails in the hills surrounding the city. We started on the main trail and quickly moved onto to quite paths deep in the woods and moved onto Petra's private land covered in chestnut trees. Petra taught us what to look for and how to spot a bad nut! We were able to full bag to take home. She shared the proper techniques for both roasting and boiling the chestnuts at home. Petra also taught us about local plants all along our hike. I can't recommend this enough. There are a few steep sections of the trail, but this is a great adventure for adults or families, and Petra is happy to take it at your pace. It was a wonderful day and Petra was an amazing guide. We're looking forward to working with Petra again for our next visit. She organizes all kind of hikes and experiences around Croatia.

We’d booked this tour with Costco as we had had good luck with their service on previous cruises—and they did not disappoint. Our guide, Jolanta Car, was waiting at the bottom of the gangplank with a sign. There were three of us + Jolanta. We walked to her car and began the hour and 15 minute drive into Istria. Jolanta speaks perfect english and carried on a running conversation all the way to the first stop: a little farm restaurant out in the hills. After a brief wait for the members of another tour (which arrived by bus), we had a light lunch with wine and could see Motovun—an old tiny town built on top of a mountain. That was our second stop. Jolanta parked the car and we started up the hill. My wife had recent surgery and chose not to make the walk, and waited in the car. The three of us walked to the top and Jolanta purchased tickets to walk around the wall, as well as a cappucino. We spent about a half-hour there, then walked back to the car and continued to a small distillery, where the owner provided an overview of their processing and provided free samples. Very informative. We returned to the ship on time. It was a wonderfult time and we felt like we had gained a new friend. As we left here, my wife asked if she had a card—she does and owns her own tour company ([email protected]). When we got back to the ship, my wife wondered if Yolanta could set up a private tour in Dubrovnik. We had not as it was supposed to rain—but perhaps a private tour could work. 45 minutes later, we had a tour and a deal. The Dubrovnik tour was also excellent and we recommend Jolanta without reservation.
