Things to do in Cape Town Central, Western Cape: The Best Gear Rentals

April 11, 2022 Merry Kessler

Cape Town glistens at the southern toe of the African continent. Tourist brochure-views at Blaauwberg Beach and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens are within easy driving distance of "The Mother City." The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve provides sweeping sea vistas, hiking trails and wildlife encounters. On a more somber note, travelers can visit Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 27 years.

We rented our bikes for an hour and cycled early one evening from Sea Point Promenade down to the V&A Waterfront and it was brilliant! We had time to stop for photo opportunities and it was a good way to explore a bit of the Waterfront. We had such fun and it is suitable for all ages and people don't mind you cycling amongst them on the pavements so it feels safe with children. It is one of the more affordable things to do in Cape Town as well! Next time we will cycle down to Camps Bay thought the pavements aren't so big and the road is very busy for cyclists.

My experience with Cape Cobra Hire was fantastic. I rang first thing in the morning as soon as they opened (8am) to try and get a booking for that day to rent a Cobra for four hours, unfortunately they were fully booked and I thought that was that. They then called me back an hour later and said they had one that had come available, my girlfriend and I went straight down there to pick up the car. There was parking there which made it very easy for us to leave our car and pick it up later on. The car was absoloutely amazing to say the least... I was completely blown away by the car, we went for an amazing and unforgettable drive around Constantia and Chapmans Peak Drive, it was well worth the money. The guys at the garage were super friendly to my girlfriend and I and also super helpful. The minimum age to rent the vehicle is 25 of which I am 24, however as they trusted both of us they allowed us to drive it. Just an amazing experience and one which I will never forget and one which I am grateful for. Thanks to the guys at Cape Cobra Hire.
