Things to do in Busan, South Korea: The Best Sights & Landmarks

November 4, 2021 Roger Rusk

Busan is Korea's second largest city.  Tourists often come to this region to hike and to visit the Buddhist Temples located deep within the region's mountains. The Beomeosa Temple, founded in 678 AD, is perhaps one of the most frequented temples in the area and is always packed with worshipers and tourists. For art buffs, Busan offers several museums and historical buildings. If scenery is your thing, try visiting the Dongbaek Island, or bird watch at the Nakdong river estuary.

Went end of October but trees are still mostly green. Interesting 600 year old fertile female Gingko trees with lots of Gingko fruits. Nice walk uphill.

This is a well kept and somber place that has a haunting sense of beauty to it. I went during the summer and it was extremely clean and manicured. It is a quiet place for those to remember the fallen soldiers from all of the countries that sent soldiers to Korea.

We took a bus from central Busan to the last stop at a place where we were approached by a man who asked us whether we wanted to take a boat trip around the park's coast. We agreed, and were driven to the port by a free-shuttle bus. From there, we took a boat ride around the southern tip of Busan. After the boat trip, we walked to the Park and explored it by foot and also took a train which runs around the park. Very interesting place to be, especially the views from the lighthouse.A lot of walking involved, so wear comfortable shoes!

Busan Gamcheon Culture Village

Reviewed By passionfruitsin

Was easy to get here on your own if you are on a cruise stopover. From Busan station, take a metro to Toseong station and get out at exit 6. Once out, walk straight then proceed to bus stop of Pusan NU hospital. Board bus 1-1, 2 or 2-2 and it will take you all the way to the entrance of Gamcheong Cultural Village. Be there early or you will soon have many people in your photos which you would not want to. The sights are interesting with many artworks decorating the routes along the whole village and the colorful houses make the whole scene perfect picture shots. There are also a number of eateries throughout the village. Be warn though. There are steep slopes and staircases and would not be so friendly for the elderly. This is something different from most order tourist sites. Worth a trip.

Nice little spot in the city where the cherry blossoms bloom each year. There are some nice walking paths as well along the area. It's worth a stop by if you're near, especially during cherry blossom season.

Best thing we saw in Busan. Combine with the Geumjeongsanseong fortress South Gate if you want, also worthwhile. This is quite an uphill hike but worth it.

Samgwangsa Temple

Reviewed By Tammy2124 - Vancouver, Canada

I am not sure why this temple seems to be so underrated. It is much bigger and more elaborate than many of the other, more well know temples in the area. I love it here, one of my favourite spots in the city. The statues and carvings are amazing and there are some nice view both of the temple itself and looking back at the city. It is especially beautiful right now as it is coming up to the lantern festival and the entire temple complex is covered in lanterns. Absolutely stunning site to see. You can also hike maybe 30 mins to a smaller and more quaint temple- Seonamsa, from here. Also a nice place to visit, more relaxing and tranquil.
