Amazing Amalfi Hotel

Reviewed By Kevin K

Amazing hotel right in Amalfi with incredible views in every direction. We booked this hotel and we couldn't have been happier. The hotel staff is so friendly no matter who you encounter, they're very helpful and run an extremely professional hotel. The breakfast area is pleasantly located on the outside balcony and overlooks the ocean, the port, etc. Incredible views and great size too - lots of tables so you never felt cramped. Our room was amazing, extremely clean and neat, with perfect views - we felt like true VIP the entire time. There is an employee named Vinchenzo who was the absolute best. Always positive, smiling, laughing and makes incredible espresso martini! He was the star of the week and we highly recommend you find & interact with him!

June stay

Photos didn’t do Villa Piedimonte justice. We stayed in the Junior Suite and the room was beautiful and spacious, with a huge bathroom - massive bath and walk in shower. Our balcony had a stunning Amalfi sea view as did the pool area. Hotel staff were very friendly and so helpful and the secure car park is free - which is a bonus! The hotel is super close to Ravello Town centre, we took the free shuttle offered by the hotel there and walked back - just 10 minutes. We loved our stay in the Ravello Hills, a delightful escape.

Lovely but dated

Reviewed By KathrynN1987

I stayed here on my own on a solo vacation. The staff were lovely and the hotel was clean, but it is quite dated in terms of decor. It has a beautiful swimming area and the breakfast is very nice (though unfortunately the view from the breakfast/dinner area on the terrace is obstructed by a window sill when you sit down that is right at eye level for most people). The room was fine, though my mattress was a bit lumpy and it was difficult to keep the room cool at times. The shower was also so small I could barely turn around in it and I’m not a big person (5’4 and 130lbs) and it was quite slippery to stand in and always leaked water all over the floor. Though the hotel may technically be in Ravello, is not in Ravello proper as the name would suggest. Ravello center is actually quite hard to get to from the hotel - it is either a gruelling 30 min uphill walk (1500 steps) to the town or a 40 euro taxi. The buss does not go from the area directly to Ravello you would have to transfer in Amalfi and back track. Your choices for dinner are then limited to the hotel restaurant (which is good but pricy and would lack of variety after sometime) or a 15 minute walk to Minori along the highway or a 30-40 min walk to Amalfi the other direction. Taxis here are extremely over priced (a taxi to the hotel from Amalfi will cost 30 euros even though it’s a 10 min drive). The hotel does have shuttles but they are limited in space and the times available and don’t run in the evening. If you stay here you are better off having your own car to get around.

Amazing!

Unbelievable views with unbelievable service in perfect English where they made taxi and restaurant reservations for us! Superbly clean, one of the few places with a spectacular pool and rooftop with views of Capri and Positano and the ocean and great food and wine. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious each morning. Praiano was perfectly located with smaller town charms but easy access to Positano and Amalfi with the bus stops for Sita and the local bus outside the hotel. The path up for Path of the Gods is within one block as well. Cannot say enough good things about this hotel and their amazingly helpful staff!

It was a shame to see the reviews about the staff been sometimes rude as I found them to be incredibly friendly and helpful. On check in we were helped with our bags, shows to our room, told about the facilities etc. the hotel is spotlessly clean. The breakfast was very good for the price of 5 euros per person. For us the bed was too hard but everything else was perfect

Absolutely magnificent hotel that has amazing views of Positano right at the top of the main hill. It is a bit of a hike from the ferry port so make sure you don't do what we did and give your suitcase to the blue porters to drive up to the top! Absolutely excellent value for Hyatt points as well.

More of the same. This is a wonderful place. The room was a corner room, “Liza”, and had two large windows for perfect circulation. My girlfriend cried the day we left because she loved it so much. That’s about the best review one could give. No where near as crowded as Amalfi and a 15 minute walk away from Amalfi through a convenient tunnel.

Looming presence on the sea-front

Reviewed By SandySojourn

The hotel does have a grand-presence on Lungomare. Being an older and spacious property does have it's advantages - like having a wide balcony with chairs to gaze out at the exotic Amalfi coast (photo attached). Though Easter time, we were lucky to have a room with a balcony. Conveniently located in a 10-minute walk the the Salerno station, bus-stop or concordia Pier to reach Amalfi. Room was spacious with large cupboards and a small place to cook-meals. A kettle would have been comfortable in the room. Being Asian, I love my warm water and a morning coffee. Breakfast was tasty with some of the local sweet delicacies like Sfogliatella and Conchiglia. I noticed it was spread in way which reduced food-wastage on the table. However, I missed warm sausages or omlette. Would have also liked vegetable salads and cut fruits. A variety of whole fresh fruits were accessible, but sometimes we get lazy to peel and eat an entire fruit :) Staff were friendly and helpful.

TOURIST TRAP: Overrated & Overpriced

Reviewed By Iván G

AVOID AS A FOREIGN TOURIST! The worst lodging experience we had in our whole trip in Italy. Their whole staff does NOT speak English (except a waiter) and are unqualified for foreign tourists. They even get aggressive when someone doesn't understand their instructions. They developed an App, which is only in Italian and no chance of changing language. They don't care nor apply any COVID protocols, we were never checked our Green Pass nor even got our temperature checked. The swimming pool is super crowded with kids and people who do not respect social distancing nor the swimming pool reservations. Except for the swimming pool area, the infrastructure is old and outdated. The activities are few and boring, they take place only in Italian, with only one show per night (ex. Kids Dance) followed by cheap animation by the same staff. The food is very low quality, with cheap whine (obtained from the juice dispenser), not even the breakfast is appropriate. We stayed one night and asked a full refund, which they refused to give until we warned them that we will call our lawyer. Each night costs more than 170€ plus made up beach taxes. This is extremely overpriced and completely not worth it given the above-mentioned problems.

The Hotel "Alfonso a Mare" is situated in Praiano in the heart of the Amalfi Coast, one of the most beautiful and characteristic small bays of the area, the picturesque beach of "Praia", an ancient fishing village. Just 7 km from Amalfi and Positano, a few steps from the crystal clear sea. The hotel's spacious, light-filled bedrooms are all stylishly furnished in typical Mediterranean fashion and feature the area's beautiful majolica floor tiles. A number of rooms lead out on to a small terrace overlooking the sea.

Nice location

Reviewed By Tim_zig2

We stayed here in october end of the season. We had the beachfront view. Not a lot to do so we left early and went to Sorento. They had like 3 restaurants open. Cold and extremely windy so we couldn't go to the beach or scuba dive. Breakfast was extremely basic but the view was to die for very pretty. Go to Armandino for dinner its so good best pasta in Italy I've had so far. The area seems like it would be very busy in the Summer so keep that in mind if you plan to sleep in. You're literally right on the beach next to everything. You can rent a boat and do all the tours everything is right there. To get to anything else is a climb another thing to keep in mind you're at the bottom so everything else is up. Take taxis and such I recommend to see Amalfi and Postiano.
